Gateway MA3 wont charge or run off of dc power

I have a gateway ma3 laptop that will not run or charge off the dc power. I have just replaced the dc jack and noticed that it was sparking a little on the mb. I noticed that these are common for these kinda of issues, and I noticed on one of the threads that they were putting in a jumper wire to get this all to work. Well the picture of the mb was different and mine, and I was wondering if someone could tell me where I need to jumper the wire if I put up a picture. Thanks

The problem with the ma3 & ma7 boards is that the tracks around the plated thru hole that the center pin of the jack goes into, disintegrate completely and no longer make contact to the pin. You have to look carefully at the track around the center pin hole on both the top and the bottom. Find the component that is attached by solder to that track and run a wire between that component and the actual center pin post. Just because there is a component next to the jack, it does not mean that it connects to the jack. You have to look closely at the track to find the closest solderable component and carefully solder the wire to it and the post. Do it on both sides of the board.
