    Rii Mini Keyboard/Touchpad

This isn't the best topic to post it in, but it's the closest.

I've got a Rii keyboard/touchpad, some of you might be familiar with these, they're poorly made keyboard and touchpad combos that are designed mostly for home theater PCs and cost about $60 usually.

I had it for a little over a week and it worked well, then I set it upon the couch face down and picked it up about 5 minutes later, the orange (trasmitting) light was solid, when normally only blinks to indicate transmitting, and the green power LED was off. I've tried all the normal bevvy of troubleshooting, battery drain, etc. Nothing worked, and anytime it's powered on, just the solid transmit light. I've tested with another unit's receiver and they seem to be keyed to each other, so there's no love there.
The electronics inside seem exceedingly simple, I'm wondering if anyone who's more well-versed in this might have some ideas of what could have gone wrong at a circuit level that I might poke at.

    Things I've tried:
Quick reflow of the unlabeled ICs, some pins are joined together, but it looked like that before I touched it, so I assume they're bonded grounds. It uses Lead solder (of course).
There doesn't seem to be any smt fuses on here, but it is getting power, so I don't think that's the issue.

Notes: I believe J1 might be a USB header, so my next test will be to see if I can wire that up to see if it's the wireless part of it.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

You probably inadvertently changed channels so it can't connect.
    Read 4.7.

The other unit's receiver is probably on a different channel too.
    .
Think like the keyboard and receiver are walkie-talkies.
If they aren't on the same channel they can't 'talk' to each other.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried that after checking the 1/2 page pamphlet that came with the unit. the ESC key has the RF subitem (which is triggered with FN key) but just for kicks I tried F1 as in that manual you listed, but it's a no-go.
I'm pretty sure it's an electrical problem, the orange light immediately turns on and solid, indicating data, but the power light never comes on, I would assume if anything, the green power light should be on long before it tried to initialize the wireless.

      Any other ideas?

This might be a stupid suggestion, just wanted to ask if it might be possible that one of the keys got stuck and thats why it wont play nice? I have the same keyboard, never had that particular problem though, its not the best keyboard around but for linux use its way better then the expensive logitech ones that doesnt have any f1-f8 keys

Unfortunately, no, I've had the unit completely dismantled and what appeared to be a USB header is a power header, but the +D and -D don't go anywhere, so it doesn't negotiate with a usb host at all, but it does power the unit.
Not a stuck key, so I'm going to assume that this is static damage, because I had the thing face down on my couch on top of a blanket for about 5 minutes or so while moving around the living room. I've honestly never seen any electronic component die from static first-hand (heard about plenty) but given it's poor build quality it doesn't seem it could be anything else.

Hi! I have exactly same situation with Rii Mini II. It looks 100% same inside like yours.
Did you find some information about these keyboards that might help in repair?

I've noticed unsoldered R4 and R5 resistors on D+ and D- lines. Will try to put a pair of 30-60 Ohms ones, to see if it will start talking on USB.
