DV9000 Power issues - Unit power on, but does nt restart until disconnnected from ac

    Hello,
    strange problem on HP DV9000 laptop;
unit starts and is full working, but when powered off, it wan t restart until dc jack is unplugged and reinserted.

Tested FDS 6679 and AO4407 and seems ok, may be a capacitor not discharging?

    Thanks

The easy test is to check for shorts on the diode scale of a DMM. Check the datasheets. Some leads are supposed to be shorted. Some leads may be shorted by the surrounding circuitry. A more conclusive test is to pull the chip and test it with a Semiconductor Analyzer like the Atlas DCA55.
      sig files are for morons

@ shuky: using my meter in diod mode; i know is best to pull out the component and do measurements, but is so time consuming!!!

so i taken another identical board (working) and measured same components, identical readings.

solution: reflowed intel southbridge and the box back to life !!!

        thanks everyone for attention,

        regards

Marcellodj - are you aware of the nVidia GPU defects effecting all of the HP dv9000 series units? The issue is with the BGA GPU become separated from the mainboard over time, and this causes issues with the WiFi, power on, video, etc.

They're settling a large class-action lawsuit that nVidia has agreed to replace many notebooks from Dell, HP, and Apple. Check this site for more info:

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
            by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

Garage door RX unit (Cardin S38C) does not short relay to send opening signal
            by CoinCoin88
            Hello everyone,

I'm turning to the Badcaps community to help me troubleshoot the radio Rx card from my (old) garage door opener. While I could just ditch that card and replace the whole system, I first would like to understand "why" it suddenly stopped working, because that's just how I am wired...!

Some basics: the receiver works on a 30.875 Mhz frequency. Yes, I'm aware this is not in use anymore in a looot of places. It does not use any rolling code, it's just a regular dip-switch code that you have to set up on both the receiver and transmitter. The receiver...

Unit runs but no speaker output kenwood KR-6030
            by DrDos
I have finished my work. The new lights come on except the one for stereo, I reversed the bulbs to no affect, anyway, the unit powers on, relay clicks. I have no DC voltage in speaker outputs, I also do not have any AC in the speaker outputs. There is some faint crackling in the speaker. This unit cranks up loud so I had the volume on very low. Everything seems to be fine but I can't really check the switch until I can get sound out of the outputs. I was going to do caps for the power supplys and the tone board but thought if it was cranking loud at one time maybe just leave it alone until it...

            Specific Data-Recovery Assistance on no-power 820-02536 (A2681)
            by ugamazing
Received this unit for data-recovery only. Unit has no power and charger cycles the instant it boosts to 20v on all ports. Unit will show life when REVIVING, but fails DFU eventually (expected DFU mode, i.e. a cycle/restart of SOC). Board and unit are super clean, I suspect the unit may have simply lost power at a critical point of update. Customer doesn't care about repair, only wants data. But I strongly feel a restore is what the unit needs. Again, during revive, video will show on LCD, but there is never any trackpad click (I'm unsure if there is normally anyway at this specific point, reviving...
