Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds
About 3 years ago my office had to update their fire alarm and security systems. They threw out the old fire alarm control panel and an ID badge printer. Nothing was wrong with either, just didn't work with the new systems. I pulled them off the cart before they made it the dumpster, and sold on both on eBay for over $500.
Does that count since they didn't actually make it to the dumpster?

Re: BIOS Lock. Not sure if it's worth the salvage
Unit has a dedicated security chip. Unless you want to figure out which NVRAM it's using, build a chip reader and then interpret the encrypted machine code, I'd say it's not worth the hassle. Sorry bud.
In case you don't have it, here's some documentation on the unit:

Re: DV9000 Power issues - Unit power on, but does nt restart until disconnnected from
Marcellodj - are you aware of the nVidia GPU defects effecting all of the HP dv9000 series units? The issue is with the BGA GPU become separated from the mainboard over time, and this causes issues with the WiFi, power on, video, etc.
They're settling a large class-action lawsuit that nVidia has agreed to replace many notebooks from Dell, HP, and Apple. Check this site for more info:

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
Hi, I'm just a compulsive tinkerer from the mid-western US and can't believe I haven't found this forum before.
I've recapped a couple of ECU's out of cars but never tried with multi-layer PCB. Getting ready to give that a shot on PC mainboard, and found this site.
