Re: A1707 20Vs works, faulty left charge port

See attached. These are a few of the diodes on J3300.

The idea is to check each and every pin that has a diode on its contact and confirm that it is not shorted due to some massive transient. Diodes are sacrificial devices, if they are pushed beyond their rating, unlike the Hulk, they will short out.

    Suggestion is:

    1) remove the paddle board and connect only your type C meter. Power cycle the adapter -> the meter should light up since there is no load. This is at least possible with the ones we own here.

    2) Repeat but add the same dual type C paddle board -> power cycle the adapter. Does it still power up for a few seconds before going dark? If not, the paddle board is a possible defect.

    3) If you find that upon seating onto J3300, the meter goes dark, then the connector @ J3300 should be inspected for liquid damage and also in diode mode. Be sure that no pin with a diode is showing close to 0 reading = short in diode mode. Do compare against the side that is working well for the same board.

The above is how I would review this case. Something is causing that meter to go dark so proceed one piece of the puzzle at a time.

Answering your question. The usb c meter we have doesn’t turn on when you put power before the paddle board. What usb c meter are you using? Maybe we need to buy those. That is cool btw. That would make repairs great

A2442 MacBook Pro 14" Two Left SIDE USB C ports charge but no data
        by Stephen
Right SIDE usb.c port charges and transfers data without issue, two left side uSB c ports charge but do not receive or see data. Was liquid damaged, and repaired significantly and thought we were in the clear but appears this is the last issue that is rearing its head. I am trying to locate the RETIMER chip that communicates the DATA TX/RX but I cannot seem to find it on the schematic or maybe I am just so tired my eyes wore out lol. Any help would be great.

troubleshooting microsoft surface pro 4 no power no led charge light
        by ipatch
hello, i have been sitting on some microsoft surface pro 4 tablets for a while now. i was originally tasked with replacing the battery in one of the tablets, and ended breaking the screen and logic board in the process. decided to buy another tablet with the same specs. got that screen off successfully of the second tablet. the logic board appeared good, but i guess i shorted something out in the installation process of the logic which i've read is a common issue if there is no barrier between the logic board and battery pins. all that said, i ate costs of the repair and have...

Ryobi 36V (aka 40V) 6Ah Faulty Battery Pack
        by brispuss
Purchased a Ryobi 36V 6Ah battery pack maybe just over a year ago.

Battery pack had been used on about 3 or 4 occasions for powering a cordless lawnmower. I was wanting to use this battery pack again recently, but on checking the battery charge state via the battery pack test button, there was no LED indication at all of charge state which suggested the pack was fully discharged.

I found this to be odd as I usually fully recharge battery packs shortly after use. So either the pack developed some sort of fault which completely discharged the pack cells (after recharging),...

Acer a515-43 low battery charge voltage
        by ruletero
        Hi

        Acer A515-43
        LA-H801P

Fail: Does not charge battery, has low voltaje on connector.

Laptop didn't want to turn on, only charge led blinked.

I found PQB5 (mosfet high battery charger) in short, voltaje in +12.6V_BATT was 19 v ...

I changed it, changed PQB6 too and now battery charger voltage is 4.4V but battery is 3 cell, 11.25v, then is very low to charging.

Laptop turns on without battery and works fine, but with battery turns on and turns off inmediately, I suspect battery bad but I don't know...

Charge a L19D3PDA battery externally from the laptop
        by Klevjetack
Is there a way to externally charge a L19D3PDA battery from the laptop. I have a broken charging port on my laptop and am trying to find a way to charge the battery for it. I have been doing some research and I have found that there is a module, TP4056, that can be used to charge Li-ion batteries. It says it is used to charge single cell Li-ion batteries. The L19D3PDA battery is a three cell battery. Is it possible to use the module to charge my battery and it would just be very slow? Or would that be a bad idea. Is there a different kind of module I can use to charge my Li-ion three cell battery?...
