you could just put it in the oven for like 10mins.
heat guns are good at frying other components.

Ovens are better than heat guns for frying other components because they heat EVERYTHING.

he's not got a heat gun because he's asking about the temperature.
i think he probably has an smt air station.

it needs flux injected/sprayed under the chip before you heat it btw.

dont want to try oven anymore as i had bad experience doing with oven, it made motherboard stop working in the past so bit freaky.

Heat gun is not the way to go. If you want to do it right you have to reball. There is no other way than to reball for a permanent fix. The problem is that the solder balls used are lead free and although they have a higher melting point then lead solder, they are more susceptible to cracking under heat strain. You must reball with lead solder balls. A heat gun will probably popcorn the chip and you will have a graphics error again in the near future.

Doing it professionally cost a lot for the equipment alone.
            You will need:
            stencils
            IR station
            Hot air gun
            Liquid flux
            paste flux
            thermal couple(s)
            aluminum foil tape
            kapton tape
            soldering iron
            wick
            suction pen

On top of that you will need a lot of experience and knowledge

Do not use your hot air gun on the chip unless you just want to use it a bit longer till it dies. If you do, a real repairman like myself wont even be able to salvage the chip.

Lenovo laptop does not turn on, what does this number mean in a BIOS chip?
              by thxd43
Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

              I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2
              by acedogblast
This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

              Asus laptop EC/SIO chip replacement
              by ebugs
Asus Vivobook 15 (board X513ea R2.0) gone dead when user plugged an iPhone cable into the USB-C port during boot. Now there's no LED light, no power at all. I checked all MOSFETs and capacitors, no shorts found. The board only has 3.3V and 5V present, no other voltages.

I injected 3.3V into the EC chip power rail (ITE IT5125VG 128), and it draws 80mA, while the 3.3V LDO chip RT8249C has a max output of 100mA. I checked the boardview and found there are only two chips on this 3.3V rail, EC and Realtek audio chip. So I think EC could be the problem.

              I found the EC chip...

Replacing BIOS Windond chip, present in MSI GE78HX laptop for and MXIC and what is Quad SPI
              by barbas
Hi. In the process of troubleshooting an MSI GE78HX laptop that does turn on (on its own), turns on the backlight on and off in infinite cycle, turns on RGB keyboard backlight and light bar. The CPU gets hot, and its fan spins.

The laptop charges the battery, turns on charging lights, which leads me to think the EC (ITE5571E) is ok. Laptop has no shorts, apparently. Memory is ok, tried it in another machine. Tried 5 different sticks in this machine as well, does the same. Memory connector seems ok, no pins bent.

First, I am going to try to backup and reflash its BIOS,...
