Hi I got this iPad Air 3 Wifi only here which was dead from one day to other. I found out that U8500 had a short. Replaced U8500 and after that the iPad worked for about 5 seconds and dead again (current was 600mA without battery). Then I found a short on VDD_Main. Found that C81D7 cap was shortet. Replaced the cap short gone. Now the iPad can boot up with battery but no charging at all. If plug in charger says 0,000A but on the display it says that it is charging. When plug in the board without battery, current is looping between 80mA and 0mA like about 3 seconds 80mA then 3 seconds 0mA and so on... tried also with good known battery but same. Replaced U8500 second time with no result. Now I'm stuck with this repair because I have no more ideas. Can you help?

Does anyone want to share the Schematics for this iPad Air 3 A2152 ... I have a problem with the battery charging, the ipad works & turns on fine without problem & works on battery too. I don't have the schematics so I am doing this repair all on hit & try method. First the flex charge cable pin was broken so I replaced with a new flex charge cable. This did not clear the problem. I thought maybe the battery is defective, I did an external charge & the battery did charge, I even had a brand New battery but none got the battery to charge. Then I went for the charge IC 1612A1. Soldered a brand new IC, the problem is still the same. I see on the amp meter taking the charge in the start, 3amp approx & within minutes it reduces to 1.5 amp which is not right & then zero. It show the battery ICON & it shows charging but never charges. Hope someone can help me on this, I would really appreciate.Last edited by mferna14; 08-18-2024, 11:49 AM. -
Dear friends, I figured out why the ipad was not charging. For this model, I believe so, the SMART Connector flex cable has to be connected to the logic board. I have no idea why did Apple loop this, & to complete the loop the cable has to be attached. Just to make sure, I removed the cable, the problem again started. Since no Schematic, I am assuming that this cable was not connected to complete the loop or it would not charge. My problem resolved by doing this. Hope this info benefits others too.Comment

I have a strange problem with my iPad Pro 12.9 4Gen / A2229. When I start the device, it stays on the Apple logo, but when I heat the back of the device with a hair dryer, the device boots, but this time there is an interesting problem. The iPad is charging, but there is no USB data on the computer. The USB charging port has been changed and the chips seem normal, but I have given it to 2 different Apple services in Latvia, but the repair could not be done. Is there anyone who can help with this? Can someone support the repair by sending only the motherboard within Europe? Thank you. -
I purchased some broken iPads (non-charging), trying to repair something a little trickier than retro consoles... I have all the necessary tools.
A1430 - Draws 930mA consistent, screen is black with red/empty battery icon, no charging symbol.
A1403 and A1416 - Draw 930mA, wait 3 seconds, dip to 0, repeat.
A1566 - Similar to the previous issue, it draws some power for a few seconds, then resets my ammeter, and repeats. Waiting for my lightning port tester to come to check the tristar.
Seeing as these are old, and likely have been dead for ages, is a battery... -
Hey folks, I have this iPad Pro 12,9" 4Gen A2232 here with no charging issue. The main fault was a crossed pins / faulty USB charging port due a bad cable.
So I started to replace this parts:
- replaced usb-c port -> no result
- replaced battery -> no result
- replaced usb-c chip CD3217B12A -> no result
- replaced 343S00326 -> no result
- replaced 343S00327 -> no result
- replaced 343S00328 -> no result
I have no more ideas for this issue. There is no short on the whole board, and the iPad is working fine... -
early problem this laptop is short 19v...after replace short capacitor (PC6005), this laptop does running okay...but the problem is battery percentage not increase...charging orange light is normal when insert adapter...
i have try replace 2pcs new battery but also same result...on status it saying "charging" but percentage not increase...this laptop also running okay with only battery (got 27% left)....
