    1030 g3 battery not charging

What is the possible solution for hp x360 1030 g3 that detects battery but does not increase, I have tried with different batteries that i know work, I have also replaced the charging ic but that does not solve the issue.

Check the voltage to ground of each pin on the battery connector.

The SMBUS SCL / SDA lines often contain a TVS ESD diode that can get zapped by static transients. This event will then pull down the SMBUS line(s) and cause the balance of the battery functions to fail.

    Post the measurements.

Re: 1030 g3 battery not charging

      Pins RED 0V
      Pin yellow 0V
      Pin Grey 2.9V~3.1V*
      Pin White 0v~1.1V*
      Pin Green 0V
      Black 0

*They have the 1st voltage when battery is connected and 2nd one when battery is disconnected

        Pin yellow 0V
        Pin Grey 2.9V~3.1V*
Remove all power. Remove the battery.

        Meter in resistance mode.

Measure the resistance to ground of the contact pin that mates with the yellow wire on the battery. Do not attach the battery - just interested in the resistance to ground of the battery connector on the logic board.

What is the resistance reading ?

Then repeat for the GREY wire contact for a comparison.

What is the resistance reading ?

Also consider to test in DIODE mode. Meter in DIODE mode.

Red meter probe to ground, yes RED probe.

Black meter probe to the YELLOW wire contact on the logic board. What is the diode reading ?

For comparison, repeat to test the GREY wire contact on the logic board. What is the diode reading ?

Thanks mon2 and sorry for not replying early, it was night here so i left my workstation.
Anyway I have done the measurements, I am not sure if they are correct, I have attached photo evidence in case there is something I need to change let me know.

Resistance to ground for the Pin that mates with the yellow is 103.9k ohm
          Grey 1.9M Ohm

In diode mode both have no readings the meter remains unchanged

Check the same resistance to ground readings for the WHITE and then the GREEN wire contacts.

2 of these wires will be the SCL & SDA lines that are of interest to us. Checking if they are shorted to ground or not.

Hello mon2, this I never solved the mystery with this laptop. The SCL and SDA lines both have a 0.26voltage when the battery is removed. I have tried to replace the diodes from a working motherboard literally almost everything, now the ones I replace from this mb work perfectly on the other mb. I do not understand why the two lines have 0.26v instead of 3.3v has anyone ever encountered this and what was the solution or what else should I check

You will have this low voltage if the mandatory pull-up resistor or the actual pull-up resistor voltage is missing. Be sure to trace these I2C (SMBUS) lines and locate the pull-up resistors. Confirm they are present on the board and not missing or corroded. Next, confirm the voltage on the other side of these 2 resistors which should be ~3v3 on most boards unless it is a low voltage rail by design. Often then it will be ~1v8 and voltage level shifters are used before used by the PCH which acts like the SMBUS bus master. The battery is a SMBUS slave device with its own address for communication.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                      by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

                      1. Some theory
                      1.1. Introduction
Almost every laptop has a charging circuit of some sort, that does a few things:
                      • Manages switching between AC adapter and battery power
                      • Manages battery charging and generates power rail to charge battery

There are 2 different designs to handle switching between AC adapter and battery power and feeding the system:
                      • Hybrid power boost (HPB) and traditional circuits without power boost (see Warning in HPB section)
                      • Narrow VDC (NVDC)

Texas instrument has a nice overview of these technologies with some more details at https:...

since i couldn't find schematic or boardview for this model (LA-K062P), i use closest board model found here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...-and-boardview

                      Hey All!

Long time forum member here with a problematic laptop issue!

I got a RZ09-0196 with a bloated battery (still worked and charged fine) I pulled the old cell pack out and installed a new cell pack in its place.

The laptop would not power on with the new battery installed without the power supply being plugged in.

When booting into Win10 (all up to date BTW) I saw the battery icon with 49% plugged in not charging.

TL;Dr version, old battery worked, charged but was bloated, installed a new non OEM replacement, laptop/windows...

                      Hello everyone

I have been working on this laptop mentioned in the title, it initially had a shorted capacitor. After I replaced it, the thing started working again, but there is still another problem. The laptop was running off a charger, the battery was reporting 96% charge... but when I unplugged the charger, the laptop died. I've measured the battery voltage - 0V. I think it is locked. (Screenshot from batterymon, below).

I've ordered a new 3rd-party battery, but I think there's something wrong with it too - the laptop boots, but the battery isn't charging. Also,...
