Did flashing laptop bios change it’s serial number?

    Hi all
Been wondering if flashing bios with bios programmer (bin file) also change it's serial number?
If it's so, can i edit the bin file to change it's original serial number?
    Thanks before

Maybe. If you have a backup the DMI might be easy to copy from one to the other.DMI tools are available as well

Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 (serial number: MP2BFZEF) bios request
        by Wahaz
        Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

        by evilgenius31
        Hi All,

I was told to post my corrupted bios dump here. My Zephyrus G14 GA401QH-211 is missing the serial number in the bios. NVME drives can't be detected by the bios either. The bios version is 410.

        Serial: M4NRKD01530915H

        Thanks in advance!...

Gigabyte MB missing serial number in BIOS
        by acerRI
        Hi everyone,

We have in company to custom PCs with Gigabyte B760 GAMING X (1.0). When i export hwhash for enrolling PC in azure, i got computer name as MMDEFAULTSTRING.
PCs wiht this name are not compliant with company policy, number should be MMDxxxxxx (xxxxxx is serial number of mb).
I have found that is possible to embbed in BIOS serial number so when i exporting, it will get proper computer name.

Does anyone have know if somehow do that, maybe with some hexeditor, because i have found that some specialized tools are needed.

        Any help will be...

Lenovo Thinkbook 16P G2 ACH - BIOS Serial number missing
        by TecnicaNTT
        Hi all,

I got a Lenovo Thinkbook 16P G2 ACH on the bench with a botched BIOS (somehow my client blanked it). I restored the laptop and got it up and running with original BIOS from Lenovo Support website.
My problem is now that the machine details are missing in the BIOS (Serial Number, MTM, etc.)
I tried to write the details with the Lenovo Uone Tool but had now luck. It is giving me an error: "ERROR: Locate protocol with LenovoEeprom, Status=[e]. EEPROM fail when reading or writing data."
I am now asking here for help if anyone knows how to do this in...

Zephyrus G14 GA401QH-211 reaches bios but has no serial number and can't detect NVME drives
        by evilgenius31
        Hi Everyone -

I'm working on a Zephyrus G14 GA401QH-211. I bought it on ebay, knowing it only boots to the bios. The serial number is missing when I enter the bios. I've also attempted to use multiple NVME SSDs, but the bios can't detect them.

Does this seem like a software issue, or a hardware issue with the nvme slot / pcie controller?

        Thanks!
