This is not how you test a Mosfet for internal short between all three logics. But 25V at Gate points to there is possibly something else going on.Leave a comment:

Both are still 0.6V after removing diodes.These are open drain pins so they must have local pull up resistors to park these pins to a soft logic high level.
Either these pins are missing these pull ups or the ESD diodes are pulling these pins low.
Locate the ESD diodes on these pins on the logic board. They should be fluxed and carefully removed. Do not lose the parts.
Then power up again and check these pins.

Connection between connector and IC is there.My bad, yes pins #4 & 5 which appear to be ok for the diode mode readings.
Let us check that the contacts reach the charger IC.
Meter in diode mode. Short the meter probes and you should have a tone beep.
One meter probe on pin #4 of the battery connector (without the battery connected); other meter probe to pin #12 on the charger IC.
Do you hear a tone beep?
Repeat with pin #5 of the battery connector & pin # 11 on the charger IC.
After the above tests, power up - still without the battery.
Meter in DC volts mode. Measure the voltage to ground on pins #4 & #5 on the battery connector.
You should have ~3v on each SMBUS SCL / SDA pin.
Finally, connect the battery again and check if the voltage to ground measurements remain at ~3v on these battery contacts.
A defective BMS board on the battery pack can cause the SMBUS communication to fail. At that point, the battery should be replaced.
Post each measurement.
Both pin #4 and #5 show only 0.66V when DC in connected and pc turned on, also with battery plugged in.Leave a comment:

Do you mean Pin #4 & #5? Pin #3 is a BAT+ line.Good point. Forgot some models hardstrap the battery present pin to ground. Thanks.

Have this Asus UX433FAC that came with shorted mosfet on main power rail. After replace laptop works ok, but battery is dead. Laptop show charging but voltage on battery is 0.2V. when remove battery voltage on battery connector goes to 8.5V, but when connect battery again it goes down to 0.2V.

During last laptop charge, as I was moving the DC power supply, I caused the two leads (+ -) to touch. After that event the laptop stopped charging and pulling amps form the power supply. I searched for the term "dead short" in the forum but no specific thread came up however if I'm just blind and couldn't see the thread talking about this please forward me to that direction.
So my problem is I don't know how to find the source of a dead shorted voltage rail. Dead short = ~0 ohm resistance.
I have two VGAs (HD 4850 and HD 4870), both dead shorted to ground on the memory rail. I have the boardview file for the 4870 and the memory rail consists around ~7892346 capacitors...
I have a bench PSU and if I try to inject voltage the voltage... - Loading...
