Looking for Hitachi PhotoFlash 330V 800uF

I have a Sony stand-alone Flash (HVL-F1000) that uses a Hitachi electrolytic photo flash capacitor:

From what I've seen in the hitachiaic.com documentation the following capacitor matches the one I have:

    Catalog #: HD633801250 - 800uF - 330 WVDC - 25.0 mm (diameter) x 43.0 mm (length).

Problem is, no one at Hitachi AC does retail sales (only bulk orders from electronics manufacturers) and the one contact they gave me www.winkel-kondensatoren.de is not answering my mails...

Looked in ebay as well but nothing there too... I'd also consider a different brand equivalent if it fits the specs. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

The only cap that I could find that would fit and had the proper capacitance was here:

    http://www.amazing1.com/capacitors.htm

I don't know what brand it is though so I guess you should drop the guy at that site an e-mail.

Thanks! This is the closest I can get to what I'm looking for, although it's considerably wider in diameter (3mm vs 2.5), however as it's a flash I use indoors I could perhaps improvise some outer enclosure and put the cap in there. I'll drop them a line and see, maybe they have something else that fits better.

One question I have though is will it be ok to use one with 360V in the place a 330V was?

Yes its always ok to go above the working voltage with capacitors you just don't want to go under.

That probably is the reason why its fatter then the stock one due to the added working voltage.

Re: Looking for Hitachi PhotoFlash 330V 800uF

I see. It's a shame that although these parts are still manufactured by Hitachi AIC, there is no retailer for small orders. I've sent mails to any capacitor & electronics retailer and the one you mentioned above is the only one that came close to what I'm looking for...

Anyway, contacted them and they said they'll look for something closer to 25mm or they'll send me the 3mm one. If anyone has any other link that sells Hitachi AIC caps pls post here. Thanks.

I did do some searching on this and rubycon do make caps for this purpose

unfortunately I lost the post due to the net deciding to be flaky

            FK or FKX

            http://www.faradnet.com/catalog/company/rubycon.htm

the only place I found from faradnet was this mob with a DE

            http://www.faradnet.com/company/photofla.htm

            http://www.capacitor.de/

they don't have anything listed though you have to contact them

heres a few other links I found

            http://www.duracap.com/photoflash_se...tors/index.htm

            see the PDF

            http://www.capacitorindustries.com/c...s/default.html

A jump up in voltage is no worries but don't ever go down
(unless you really know what you are doing..in the case of this cap no way thought)
Physical size by the sounds of it may be your other big issue

guess the hard part is finding those that will supply in one off's

Krankshaft's link maybe you best shot thought. they are US based by the looks of it so postage may hurt a bit

            HTH cheers

Thanks for all those links! Mailed 6 companies to get a quote for specs, price & shipping charges and I hope I'll have answers soon. I looked at ebay and the only 2 that fit my specs (apart from size) cost $21 upwards (shipping cost not included) so any info on alternatives is much appreciated

can you tell me how you resolved this?

I need a capacitor around 800uF 330v with diameter 25mm length 45mm for use in photo flash. current make is rubicon.

thanks in advance for any help

(I am in UK, but dont mind international order)

Re: Looking for Hitachi PhotoFlash 330V 800uF

The replacement capacitor needs to be rated for photo flash use; ordinary electrolytic units would fail prematurely (and could be too large to fit).
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

When the set came in it was dead. Fuse was open primary side and the power mosfet was shorted. So I ordered a new power supply. Now it turns on, only displays "Hitachi" and then power off red and blue led flashing.

I had to modify the 0ohm resistors in the led backlight of the new PS like the original power supply.
Is there any variants on 17IPS71 power supply's?

Help finding the correct model of a T-Con board on my Hitachi TV
                    by sotodefonk
Hi, I have a Hitachi tv model L47V651, there is no image, but sound and backlights turn on, so I believe the issue is the tcon board.

I opened the tv to access the board and took the shared pictures of the T-Con board.

I saw a video from shopjimmy on how to detect the model number on tcon boards, but this doesn't have a sticker like how that video showed all boards.

I searched the P/N number and got results with the same marking name and P/N my board has but they list other specific tv models like Vizio and Philips brand but not Hitachi.

                    Inspecting...

                    Hi Guys
I have a customer who has two Hitachi TVs in his bar, one is the model in the thread title and the other is a larger screen but has the same setup menu

He also has an LG TV, so three screens in the bar
