PS4 SAB-001 no power after cleanup

    Hi everyone,
today we cleaned up from dust a PS4 Fat with SAB-001 motherboard and replaced the thermal paste with Arctic MX-4 (non conductive). Before disassembly the PS4 powered on normally but the fan was just loud because the dust.
We made many PS4 before, without problem and by being delicate in handling them.

    Now, that's the strange part.

This PS4, after reassembly, just do a "beep" and immediately shutdown. After testing with another PSU we inspected the motherboard and found a blown fuse (F5104). Picture attached with some characters as traces notes.

There was no apparently short, just a low impedance, and the mosfet were good, so we replaced the fuse and retried again. Same thing after 1-2 seconds after power up.
Injecting 12V on the B trace (since in the A trace were 12V) does nothing, so no short. Also injecting 1V on the E trace (since it goes under the CPU) does not reveal any heat or short, checked with a thermal camera too.

Without mosfets, like in picture, in ohm mode, E trace measures about 50ohm and in diode mode measures 0.024.
I've found a PDF with some values written and ours are pretty low confronting with them.

Have anyone had this problem before?
Anyone know the voltage on E trace, when the console is on, just to try to inject the right voltage to check better?

I repeat, we just cleaned it up, and did nothing more.

    Thank you.

Re: PS4 SAB-001 no power after cleanup

    Hi guys,
We finally figured out what happened and I'm writing how for who could have my same problem.
A friend of mine gave us a BLOD motherboard for voltage and other stuff references.
This line goes at about 0.90V 0.80Ah (there is another line that goes at about 1.10V 1.30Ah) in powerup/boot.
Our APU works correctly at this values and that was the strange thing, so we started to traceback all around the two mosfet on this line.

In final we found that during the disassembly (or moving the motherboard around) a band-pass capacitor connected on feedback(?) pin of the IC responsable of Mosfet working and operation was totally missing (pic attached).
This caused the IC to prompt the Mosfet to full current pass (this Mosfet goes at a maximum of 30V 45A) causing the short circuit between 12V and GND that blows up the fuse.
After putting a capacitor grabbed from the donor motherboard it started working perfectly!

It's so tiny that in first inspection we haven't noticed it!

How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?
      by Jane
I tried to use this method:

      Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the

VGA MOSfet permanently shorted and loss of MOSfet pad
      by Nooy
Hello everyone, I recently found this badcaps site and super Learn Electronics Repair youtube channel. And I wanted to learn how to troubleshoot power supplies and VGA cards and how to practice soldering, since I already have a properly defective piece of them. I am currently trying to solve two problems:

I have a Gigabyte GV-RX460WF2OC-4GD type card. I managed to find the faulty MOSfet (AON6414A) on it, which I replaced. The card starts up, but after about half a minute, the MOSfet in the same position will be shorted again. Is it possible that the PWM controller driving the MOSfet...

Is it possible bridging tiny broken trace
      by chth96
When I assembled dreamcast I mistakenly fastened long bolt and It resulted in
      cutting tiny trace.
This tiny trace(Total width of white coating is 5.5mm) is between R337,R343 and IC101 and it is covered with white coating in the below screenshot.

Firstly I tried to bridging tiny broken trace with my own eyes...But it is totally impossible..So a week ago, I ordered G1200 Digital Microscope and I magnified this tiny broken trace with it.

But It seems that It is really very tiny trace So I plan to order 0.1mm coper wire from aliexpress in order to bridging...

Asus X712EA 3 volts after the first mosfet
      by AppleLover123
      Hey guys,

i have a asus motherboard here and as the title says after the first mosfet (in the picture) there is nothing more than 3.15v.
I injected 19v and max. 1 amp at the charging port and there is not voltage drop or smth. It's just taking 19v and 1 milliamp.
Then i tried to inject 19v and max 1amp after the current sensor and there it first takes 19v and 4 milliamps and after 2 seconds it is taking nothing (no current).
I measured on the coils on board everything seems fine. Also the main power rail is not shorted (infinite resistance).
      Now i thought something...

ASUS ROG Zephyrus GPU Mosfet repeat failure
      by MicroSMD Lab
The board number is GU502DU. I repaired this a couple weeks ago and it came back with the same issue, same mosfet failed (PQH9201). I'm hoping that the GPU was spared this time.
I used the same replacement part (purchased from Mouser) and I'm certain the soldering was done properly since it took just as much effort to remove as before. What could cause this same mosfet to fail? I'm thinking if it was unsuitable then the others would fail too. I looked for similar failures on YTube and the mosfet was replaced with AOE6930 in one instance and AOE6932 in the other but it's possible that the...
