3.3 v next to the EDP switch is there, but no one controls it. I will look at the diagram again.
I have also tried with a monitor on the HDMI port - no picture.I do not rule out the possibility of damaged memory that is soldered to the mainboard.
Num Lock and Caps Lock are also unresponsive, for this I went to bios or ec dump IT8987ELast edited by didoee; 12-28-2023, 05:27 AM.Comment

Hello Badcaps People,
This is my first time posting here, but I've understood this is the best place when looking for expert assistance! Thanks for having me.
My problem is the following: My laptop (used to... see below) works good, except that the bios/UEFI settings are locked behind an "System Password". This is strange, since I've bought it new and can't recall setting the password. I've contacted the seller, no luck. I've contacted Lenovo, they can't/don't help. I've also tried other methods, with no luck. A repair shop has tried to update the bios to solve this problem, but no luck. They concluded that the only option is to read the bios chip and flash a corrected version. I'm new to this, but have given it a go.
I have used a ch341a programmer to read my bios chip of my laptop. After several attempts, I finally got the software (NeoProgrammer) on a different laptop to recognize the chip. I then read the bios and got a .bin file that was not only F's (not empty). I did not erase anything or write something new to the chip. I disconnected the programmer and reassembled the laptop. However, when I try to restart my laptop, I only get a black screen. The keyboard lights up initially (as normal) and the fans start spinning at a constant rate being relatively loud (not usual). The screen powers on, i.e., becoming less black than turned off, but stays completely black afterwards. It remains in this state even after waiting for a while (10-15+ minutes).
I therefore have 2 questions:- How can I repair my laptop? (I don't understand how, if nothing was changed in the bios chip, the laptop suddenly does not turn on)
- Can the bios .bin file (see attached file) be corrected so it doesn't have a password? And will flashing this version solve the issue?
PS. Online someone send me a bios .bin file for the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16IHU6. I think this uses a different motherboard, so therefore thought it wasn't wise to try and flash this. Is this true or can it be used to try and recover my device? These files are also attached, if it helps.

Maybe someone set that password as a prank without you knowing...
1. Most likely you damaged the BIOS chip by supplying 3.3V to it (hopefully nothing else on the motherboard including CPU), you used a CH341A which is for 3.3V chips, your BIOS chip is W74W12JWSIQ, which is 1.8V, you have to use additional 1.8V adapter with the CH341A for this BIOS chip, as the BIOS chip is connected straight to the CPU on AMD platform
2. Your backup looks good, I will provide a new BIOS with the (encrypted) DMI data (including serial/model name/MTM and Win key) copied from your existing BIOS anyway, it will have no password (if laptop works, you have to deal with BitLocker next), the BIOS chip may need to be replaced if you connected the CH341A without using 1.8V adapter

That "someone" sent you a BIOS for Intel CPU laptop, yours is AMD, that's the first red flag 🚩PS. Online someone send me a bios .bin file for the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16IHU6. by mkdjDear all,
I have recently fixed a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 ALC6 that was not booting due to a BIOS issue. After flashing the BIOS, the laptop boots up, but hard disk is not recognized in BIOS. Is says "Hard Disk : Not Installed". I have tried with 2 different drives (one that I know is working on another laptop) but I get the same result. I do not know if disks were recognized before I got the laptop and fix it, but I don't see any reason why not. I can boot on USB though.
Here the steps I have taken to fix the laptop:

by macabookHello everyone,
I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
🧩 Initial Issue- Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
