by grimacelordHello,
I have spent the last hour on this and I guess this is just over my head, so here I am.
I have an ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI motherboard here that needs to have the BIOS updated in order to accept the latest CPUs.
The BIOS chips seem to come as a set of two: GD25B64ESIG and GD25B128ESIG. My guess is one of them is a fail-safe for the main BIOS? I really don't know. Or one of them is ME and other is BIOS? I don't know.
Anyway, I took dumps of both chips and then downloaded the latest update for this motherboard from ASUS's website...-

by BloodhoundjeHi everyone,
I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.
I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.
After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.
I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...-

by tomswildmanHello all, help please id manufacturer and code for part labeled FK=8A. Part is located near the VRM at the bottom assuming some kind of 5 volt controller. Motherboard has shorted 5 volts and this is possibly the culprit along with a 10 ohm resistor nearby . Motherboard is MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Carbon wifi. Thank you!😊...

by f-boneHi guys,
I had this one for repair and discovered that the IO controler (nuovoton) was dead (shorted). Replaced it and flashed the main bios using my programmer (the usb method was not working the LED flashed for 5" and stoped) but the motherboard is still dead, no power although 3.3V at JFP1 and no LED activity.
There is a small MXIC 25V2033F next to the IO controller which I believe could be corrupt.
Is it possible to find a dump?
thank you in advance,
BR,
George-
