    APM2054N MOSFET replacement for A9200SE

    Hello folks,

I accidentally shorted something on this video card, and the APM2054N MOSFET got visible burned (image attached, though it is not so clear in the picture). I can't find the exact replacement but I have sourced two of each of these: APM2509N, APM2506N, APM2512N from my pile of broken electronics.

Reading this post and checking the datasheets, all the ones I found seem to be compatible (lower resistance, higher voltage) but I'm not sure at all. Overall I see the ones I found are for higher load and higher voltage.

Can anybody please tell me if any of these are suitable for replacing the broken APM2054N?

Inspecting the board I see that there are two APM2054N that likely work together, (I'm only guessing). Is it better to replace both (the good and the bad one) with two MOSFETs of the same ratings, or only replacing the bad one is enough?

If the ones I found are not appropriate, can you please tell me what alternatives I could look for and how to identify the compatible MOSFETs? What is the criteria?

    Thank you guys!

give part number to google, find datasheet, than compare

Thanks for your suggestion. Have you read my message? Please do so.

      This is a theoretical question.

I read the datasheet for the mentioned MOSFETs but I don't know enough to interpret them fully.

That's why I ask, what are the conditions that should be met to replace a MOSFET with a different one?
I read that voltage can go up, and resistance can go down, but I don't feel confident with only that. I think there probably are other factors and I'd like to know more about what to look for and what to be careful about.

Also, I don't know if I have to replace both MOSFETs or if I can use one APM2509N and leave the good APM2054N in its place.

      Cheers.

Intel D865PERL - no Vcore after replacing MOSFETs and MOSFET drivers
        by kotel studios
        Hi,

Finally got time to fix this board up.
At first it didn't give any POST codes. Turns out it was an unsupported Celeron D cpu. After dropping in an Celery 2.6gHz the CPU came out of reset with clock signal, but still no post codes. For a while it did work when I applied pressure to the ADP3168 chip, but on next reboot the MOSFETs started to burn. Then I left it as is for months.

Now I came back prepared. Replaced the bad MOSFETs and the ADPxx18k drivers. Now I don't get any MOSFETs blowing up issues anymore. But sadly, the Vcore is missing. The whole VRM isn't...

        Dual mosfet replacement help
        by DoOm86
        Hello.
        I have a notebook with a shorted mosfet, it's a E6930 GA8125.
It seems to be a 30V dual asymmetric N-channel AlphaMos.
Luckily the notebook is working, so I just need to find a good replacement for this mosfet.

And here is where I need help!
It's the first time I have to replace this kind of mosfet, I checked on mouse and I found this: (mouser No) = 512-FDPC5030SG.
I need your help to be sure is a good replacement or there is another with better compatibility, since I can't find the same exact (just from China).
        Thanks!...

How do you test MOSFET in laptops ?
        by Jane
I tried to use this method:

        Testing an N-channel MOSFET:

Step 1: Discharge the Gate (turn off the MOSFET)
Place the black probe (COM) on the Source (S) and the red probe on the Drain (D). The multimeter should show no continuity (high resistance or "OL" – open line).
Then, touch the black probe to the Source (S) and the red probe to the Gate (G). This discharges any stored charge in the Gate, turning the MOSFET off.

Step 2: Charge the Gate (turn on the MOSFET)
Now, place the red probe on the Gate (G) and the black probe on the
