P4P800 Deluxe - any bad capacitor sightings?

A few days ago, I checked all of the electrolytics in my system. The electrolytics on the mainboard were not faulty (the ones around the CPU are Nippon Chemi-Con units), as well as a few GSC general purpose units, used for bypassing (and probably audio) purposes.

Has anyone seen a P4P800 Deluxe with bad caps? Some pictures would help.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

I think I have seen several of them, they have the tall skinny GSC's next to cpu?

I know I have fixed 2, I had one that I could never get stable.

Mine has six 1500uF 6.3V Elite EB series (only six of the 10 capacitor positions were used) right next to the CPU. There were four 1200uF 16V Nippon Chemi-Con KZE series next to the CPU voltage regulator as well. Does anyone have a board with those Elite capacitors bulging?

Sounds just like the A7V8X -LA in my Compaq. The Elite are not bulging yet, but is only a year old. I do run it rather hot.

Woops. I already wiped it mostly clean.

          In my Asus P4P800 Deluxe:

One of the seventeen capacitors of rating 6.3V 1000uF on the MB between the video card slot and the white PCI slots (leads look like they go to video card, and behavoir going wrong right now is video card will not start -- no fan start, and no monitor activation) had leaks in the Y-hatch in the metal on top of a material that was rusty in color and I believe is the tell tale sign of electrolyte leaking.

I already found a posting at http://www.overclockers.com/tips469/ describing some selection criteria in replacing capacitors. It is now my turn to find acceptable capacitors to replace in there.

I'll try to come back to report.

Yep - just look this here, its mine and showed all the right symtoms in the right order... :-)

You can easily see the difference between the (undamanged, flat top) Nippon Chemicon (NCC) 1200uF KZE Type Caps right next to the connector side of the board and the (bulging, partially stained with brown speckles) of the broken OST (Taiwan Ostor Corporation) 1500uF RLX Type Caps right next to the black plastic CPU cooler fixture.

Unfortunately these are 8x20mm Types and I have a hard time to quality replacements as badcaps folks don't ship outside the US... have now bought a set of 1500uF NCC KZE Type 10x25mm and will try to get those into the space somehow - may look ugly, but what the heck; my main concern is that it starts working again...

              All the best for now,

you could have doubled the capacitance and skipped every other cap

esr seems more important on these boards than uf.
i use mbz 820@6.3 8mmx25 in all but the 2 on each end.
i fill the 2 ends with 560@4v polymers.
these are short enough to clear the hsf clips.
the elite caps are crap.on several boards i have had them fizz and stink while desoldering them.
boards are stable without the vdroop mod.

Re: P4P800 Deluxe - any bad capacitor sightings?

I've noticed my computer, with an Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard was rebooting randomly. So, I popped the side panel off and took a good look at the capacitors on the board. I found one bulging cap in the middle of the row of caps next to the CPU.

It looks like the makes of the six capacitors were 1500uF 6.3V with the letters KZG on the outside.

So, I suppose it be a good idea to replace all the capacitors in that row on the board, right? (Sorry... I'm not too electronically inclined - just thinking it might save some headaches down the road if the other capacitors decide to go bad.)

I appreciate all the help everyone adds to the forum! Hopefully I can use this info to get up and rolling again.

                        i have seen a few.
the ones i recapped had ost or elite.some both.
last one i did had elite in the vrm.
no bulging/leaking but bad enough that vrm would fire up then shut down resulting in no post.
                        like vp6 tend to do.

Hi people, I hope this is the correct spot to post this, I'm new to the forum.

I have an RTX 3080 Founders Edition which has a burnt up capacitor (it was in parallel with another capacitor which appears damaged too), so I am hoping to be able to identify the capacitor values and order replacements.

I hope these photos make it clear which component I am referring to:
(yes, the soldering is a bit botched from removing the blown one, I know)

I have found the board schematic (attached), but there does not seem to be a boardview available. I have never...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
                              by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...
