    ECS 865G-M v2.3 Board

I got this one in as a DOA.
The original problem was a broken P4 retention bracket. The client replaced it, but used a quart of thermal paste. Didn't find any in the pins, and the CPU is still alive.

Found one bulged OST 1000/6.3 near the AGP slot. The whole board is populated with OST craps. None bulging except the one I replaced.

I figured the board would stay dead, and it did. It power ups and spins the fans, heats the CPU, but DOA beyond that.

The bad news is this machine requires a 478 uATX board, two IDE, DDR-400 board, or the client loses all his hardware investment. I'm sniping an eBay bid in 20 minutes for an MSI board that will fit the requirements. Will have to bid WAAAY up to make sure I get it. Not much floating around in this vintage board.

    Re: ECS 865G-M v2.3 Board

I successfully sniped an MSI replacement board for the client.
This leaves me with a dead ECS POS.

Is there any merit in removing all the board caps and checking each for ESR?
The reason, I do not want to waste 30 Rubycons on this POS board. But, I am willing to expend the time to remove and check each cap. If I found more, I might be persuaded to recap the board.

    Thoughts?

Do you have a PCI port 80 card? It can tell you if the board is actually trying to POST, or if it is in fact totally dead.. Usually even if the caps are totally fragged, you'll get a flicker of activity on the port 80 card before it stops.. The fact that the CPU warms up a bit is helpful though, means it's probably doing something, and coming out of reset.

No, and I should have one considering all the hardware work I do.
Any recommendation on which one, or where to buy?

I bought the ESR meter kit here, but have yet to find time to build it.
I figure once it is done, if I remove the caps from the dead board one at a time, I might find a bad one. This would give me hope to recap the board with success, and not waste all my valuable Rubycons.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

          Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
          by Hakuu
          Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

          More Details

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

          Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
          by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
          CN6401
          Pin 01 NC
          Pin 02 NC
          Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
          Pin 04 "N/C"
          Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
          Pin 06 "GND": N/C
          Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
          by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...
