    Looks dont matter

I have a 8RDA+ that served well for a year, then the overclock ceiling started falling, checked all the caps and none looked bad but I went ahead and replaced all the GSC caps on the board. Used Rubycons as replacements, left the Sanyos and Teapos alone...now the board performs like it did when new.
Twas too nice a board to let die.

I would change the Teapo's too. The Sanyos will likely be OK, their failure rate is VERY low. GSC are total crap, good call replacing them. I've seen boards less than 3 months old with bad GSC's.

Good to see you, BTW... I remember you from the old Iwill forum!! Welcome to the forums!

      Hey, Topcat!

"Old IWILL forum"...... that was quite a while ago, I still have an XP333R, will never forget the number of OS re-installs I had to do after trying to hit 200 fsb with that ALI chipset.

At the time I replaced the 10 GSC crapacitors, no one mentioned the Teapos were next in line to go fubar. But I've been very happy with the 8RDA+ and since I have it out of the case I'll get rid of the Teapos..

Solder joints on heat sinks matter?
        by jm1234
        Hi,
solder joints on heat sinks - how much do they matter? Could poor joints on heat sink cause issues if they are not properly joining to hot ground?
I'm looking at power source module of Panasonic plasma TV and I see many of these having visually poor quality, but could they matter? In general I would guess no, but I saw a video where someone was stressing out the importance of tightening the screws when fastening the power source board specifically for the ground to be connected properly.
        Thanks

ASUS TUF B450-PLUS II motherboard schematics, or does this 60B SMD resistor even matter?
        by schematic_jack
I think it would be dumb to toss a "modern" motherboard just because a resistor got scraped off, so here I am. I am hoping to find the right schematic so I can see if the motherboard can live without 1 of 3 60B SMDs in series likely scratched off by the backplate of a PCI-E card install or removal. It could be related to a functionality that is not needed or critical, or it could fry anything I plug into it and power on. If I could find a replacement, I could likely pop in on the board, but if I don't need to, then screw it, I don't mind leaving something dark that doesn't matter....

Ceramic capacitors/resistors - do suppliers matter?
        by spleenharvester
I want to buy one of those SMD component books so I don't have to spend as much time searching my scrap boards for what I need, specifically ceramic caps and resistors as they seem to be what I spend most of my time replacing. But the only ones I can find are no name brands. Does manufacturer matter as much for SMD parts as it does with electrolytics or is the generic stuff likely to be fine?

        Nad t751 extremely low output
        by Jvoid22
I've been trying to trace an issue with my NAD t751.

        1. Extremely low volume output on both left and right channels

        2. No output when surround mode selected.

        3. Doesn't matter if headphones or speakers

        4. Doesn't matter which input.

I've bought an oscilloscope and I THINK I've traced it to the multichannel board. Audio goes from inputs to this board, then sent to the amplifier boards.

I get a signal from my freq generator to the input of the "m62447sp" IC.

        It seems that the...

Maytag Whirlpool Kenmore clothes dryer data bus
        by Joe24
Patient is a Maytag/Whirlpool/Kenmore clothes dryer. Not sure of exact model, doesn't matter. All boards are out of production.

Specific problem is a Maytag 8544799 / WP8544799 motor-control board, aka Diehl Controls 708879-05. Customer states the board "doesn't work, motor doesn't run". Not sure how the repairman made that assessment, or if it's even accurate. He can't get replacement boards, and the owner decided to buy a new dryer, so whether this board is the problem is speculation on his part. Again, doesn't matter.

I've been over the board looking for...
