    A7N8X bad caps reboot?

I ordered a power supply because I thought my random reboot was due to a bad PS. When I opened the case and shined a flashlight onto the mobo, I found 8 bad caps on my A78NX Deluxe. I guess that's the reason for the random rebooting. Wonder if I'd be better off ordering a combo mobo/cpu and use existing ram?

(sorry about the crappy cell phone pic) but you can see the crud that has surfaced at the top of each cap.

I think it depends on you: if you want to try to save it, I think you are going to save some money.
If you don't have the tools to recap your board, you must ask to someone and see how much it cost.

If I were you, I would try to recap it, if the only problem/reason you have is "random reboot" .

Woops, posted in the wrong area. Can admin move this to the Bad caps area under the Aopen-Asus- group of questions?

Regarding the rebooting issue...is it due to the bad caps or the sign of a bad power supply? When I checked the system bios, the 12 volt line was 11.8 or so and the 5 volt line was 4.5 to 4.8 and the 3 volt line was 2.5 to 2.7...

Either of them can cause it.
You can have one problem or both problems at the same time.

Either of them can cause this too.
Output filers in PSU are in parallel with most caps on mobo.

Also bad caps on mobo can make PSU caps go bad.
Bad caps in PSU cam make caps in mobo go bad.

If you have cap problems anywhere always check both psu and mobo.
