    Asus Crosshair Formula V

Right... Killed this motherboard myself by shorting it out. I run my system as a bench rig as I am swapping out GPU's constantly to test after reballing. I switched my motherboard out for another after a socket replacement and while the area was empty I placed a CMOS battery down.... forgot about it and reinstalled the Asus Crosshair.... Switched it on to be met by a spark and system shut down (Battery touched underside of the board near the USB ports)

Now when attempting to power on if i press the power button repeatedly every now and then the LED's all illuminate on the board and the PSU fan twitches for a split second.

All fuses on board check fine

Removing the 8 pin 12v connector make no difference

How do I go about diagnosing the issue?

    Cheers

    Re: Asus Crosshair Formula V

    Ok update :

The board attempts to power itself on... lights up, goes off, lights up, goes off... keeps going but the time between it is random, LED's will flicker twice in 1 second... then off for 1 second, then light up once, then stays off couple of seconds.

ASUS CROSSHAIR IV FORMULA - no reaction + HD LED always on
        by N3Star
        Hello,
As in the title I've got a problem with that motherboard. At the beginning this board wouldn't POST - it would hang at CPU led, different CPU didn't solve this issue, as well as externally programming entirely new BIOS chip.
Now it's a bit worse, there is no reaction to power. However, while on stand-by, HD LED is always dimly on, as well as "GO_LED". What links these two lights is IC 6MU1, but I don't think that it's the problem.
According to the boardview PU2007 regulates VSB just fine, 3.4V on pin 2 and 5V on pin 3, but there is quite a bit of "backfeeding"...

[TUTORIAL] fix asus bios with bios from asus web support (by razor_amd)
        by razor_amd
With ASUS, not everything is quite so simple. I will show you my way. It may be longer or harder but it is the right way to do it in my humble opinion.

For example, you can have 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all being the same model, all of which will have different BIOS versions.

I will give you an example and my version of preparing BIOS from ASUS website and in the process I am always cleaning Intel ME while doing it so you have fully cleaned BIOS, no DMI data, no password, nothing.

This is the picture of 3 similar ASUS motherboards, all of them being X555LD...

ASUS Crosshair VI HERO WiFi - Missing Components - Boardview Needed
        by FZG
Hello! I have an ASUS Crosshair VI Hero WiFi Desktop Mainboard which suffered drop damage and is now missing some components on the backside.

I need a boardview to figure out what these components were, or maybe someone who owns this board can take a quick look at what should be in these now empty spots.

I added a photo of the affected area (back of the board). There is specifically one spot I can not figure out what was there on my own. I think it should be a resistor, but what value?

        Many thanks in advance!...
