    i have this 1 pc. of SMD cap suddenly remove in my mobo but my mobo still working but what i notice is the mobo always reaches its temperature to high i cant even play games anymore because it hungsup. does the smd cap has to do with it or i have to change my HSF im using amd athlonxp 2000. do i have to replce the smd cap that was remove?

    if i will replace it heres what written on top of it 47 16s i83. Ive already look any where but i cannot find an exact copy of it or another replcement that i can use. I find one site that sales in our country http://www.rsphilippines.com/ but i cant find the one that can replace for it because its not desame or maybe its just different version. any could help me pleaseeeee.

      It's a 16V 47µ cap. If you don't find a SMD replacement, you can solder in a through-hole part if it's not too big. (be careful about polarity - SMD caps usually have their positive side marked.)

      How high are the temperatures? Have you checked for bulging caps? Your power supply could be the source of trouble as well.

        @kikkiman
        i did not check the powersupply yet but i will check it if still heats up. my system temp reaches 30 to 40 Degree and cpu temp reaches 40 to 65 degree. Its a very very small smd cap is this 16V 47µ cap can replace the one on my board i cannot solder it anymore because its foots is cut off already. i will take a picture of it. Thanks for the help.

          hi rayken,

          system temp reaches 30 to 40 Degree and cpu temp reaches 40 to 65 degree
          65 °C isnt that nice but not really critical. shouldnt cause instability.
          have u changed anything else?

          btw kikkoman, u ve got a pm

              Calculating ESR from tan delta -- tan delta's dependence on capacitance
              by Junkrepair
              I'm finally recapping my Soyo K7VX6 motherboard (aka KT600 Dragon Ultra) and replacing Sacon SZ-series caps. The Sacon SZ datasheet provides a spec for tan delta, but not for ESR, while the candidate replacement caps are specified in terms of ESR.

              I found this nice little description of the conversion:

              Calculating capacitor ESR from Tan(delta)
              https://forum.digikey.com/t/calculat...-from-tan/2633

              It mentions that a general spec for tan delta has to be adjusted for the specific capacitance before plugging tan delta into the formula...
