    HP Elitedesk 800 G6 mini - No power/no beeps

    Hi all,

I have a very strange issue with a HP Elitedesk 800 G6 mini (35W) unit - I acquired it as a barebones unit (no CPU/RAM/SSD), when plugging in power without any of this, I receive the correct 3 long, 5 short beeps (CPU initialization error).

I acquired the correct CPU for this, an i5-10500T and 8GB of RAM, after installing it into the motherboard:
    1. Plugging in power adapter does not trigger auto-initialize (quick fan spin/power on check), the AMBER LED below motherboard does blink to indicate power connected
    2. Pressing power button does not turn unit on, the white Power LED will come on while the button is pressed, but turns off immediately upon release
    I have tried the following:
    1. CMOS battery pull, 5 mins followed by 30sec power button press with all power disconnected
    2. Swapped CPU/RAM into another working G6 and confirmed it's working
    3. Swapped CPU/RAM from working G6 into this unit, same symptoms
What is so strange is that the motherboard doesn't appear to be dead, as without CPU it will beep with power connected, yet after installing the CPU it appears to not work.

    Any thoughts/ideas are greatly appreciated!

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
    by PantherDave
    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

    Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Air-conditioning unit power supply failing to power up

Hi all, I managed to narrow down which PCB was causing my Haier AC to throw out an E7 error code (E7 indicates that the indoor unit and outdoor unit cannot communicate). I found that the outdoor unit power board which gives 5v and 15v to the outdoor unit module board fails to fully power up.. The power Led starts to fade in incredibly slowly and the 5v and 15v power buses jump around like crazy and never reach their required voltage. I unplugged the module board from the power board and the power board powered up fine! It had a steady 5v and 15v out and the power LED came on instantly and Bright....
