    Asrock K7Upgrade-880 "fails" memtest86+

So if I replaced the 4 OST 3300uf 6.3v near CPU that appear fine on my Asrock K7Upgrade-880 it might not be a waste of time? What about the 4 KZE 1200uf 16v in same vicinity?

When it was rather young it gave trouble and I replaced 16 1000uf 6.3v and it seemed much better for a couple of years. Eventually I began having random trouble with various Linux activity. Then for a while it seemed to be behaving well, so I added a 2nd HD. Then freeze-ups began.

I ran memtest86+ and almost immediately it spewed endless red. I tried 6 different RAM sticks total, and same thing with all. Then I disconnected both HDs and ran memtest from CD, which did 5 passes plus with no errors. So there must be a power problem of some sort. I changed PS to a newer Earthwatts that was working fine when shelved last year. With it, the board won't even POST.

Might replacing caps with no obvious bulges or leaking really resurrect this antique?

KZE is not a problem series. KZG and KZJ are.

    Unlikely to be a problem.

Replace the capacitors near the ram slots if you have ram problems and you know the memory modules are good.

I negelected to mention the OSTs are RLX and the KZE are NK.

The few caps near the RAM slots were all replaced years ago, Nichicon 1000uf 6.3v HM.

        check BOTH your psu's

even if the board has problems, the fact that the second psu was worse means it's got problems too.

Both PSUs pass my digital PS tester. I've already replaced a couple of caps in the original PSU years ago. The much newer 2nd is a 430w 80+ Antec Earthwatts with 3300uf 16v and maybe a 1000uf 16v I already changed, but still has 4 original 1000uf 10v OST RLP and 3 OST RLX 2200uf 10v.

afaik those testers check voltage - not ripple.

i have a cheaper version with led's and it's really only good for go/nogo tests atfer you do a repair.

ASRock N100M, no picture no boot, but semi-alive
              by Exim
              Hi guys,
I managed to semi-kill an ASRock N100M board after updating Bios from 1.10 to 2.01. It's a zombie now, dead, but not dead.

              ASRock N100M special features:
              - CPU soldered to board, small Intel 12th gen
              - iGPU
              - four POST LEDs

Problem after updating Bios to 2.01 using the in-Bios update tool: no picture, no boot.
I am not sure anymore if it booted at least once successfully after updating the bios to 2.01, maybe not, I can't remember. I think it did not.

              Symptoms:
              - no picture/signal on any of the display connectors,...

What IC does AsRock usually use to make the PWM signals for GPU fans ?
              by MasterCap
I have an AsRock Taichi 7900xtx, and the minimum fan speed is way too high at 1000rpm, and thats with it's Quiet BIOS switch on, and me setting the fan profile as low as it goes, while on.

Now 1 thing I could do is just make some circuit to put in between the fan the the GPU, and leave the fan on all the time, but anytime the GPU is sending the PWM for min speed, I'll just send something lower and quieter.

But does anyone know what how AsRock usually sends the PWM to the fans on GPUs and mobo's? Is it from the MCU that's often near the 12V inputs and fan jack ? Or is...

BIOS .bin file for ASRock B450M Steel Legend
              by nolaryie
Hi, I’m looking for a clean, working BIOS .bin dump (16MB) for the ASRock B450M Steel Legend motherboard.

I’ve already tried flashing the official ASRock ROM file via CH341A, but it won’t post — I believe the capsule format is incompatible.

Any BIOS version that supports Ryzen 5 2600 is fine (e.g., P2.30–P3.60).

If anyone has a working board and can dump the BIOS using CH341A or flashrom, I would really appreciate your help.

              Thank you!

old X58 triple channel board... memtest86 memory speed?
              by eccerr0r
Anyone run memory speed tests with an old X58-based triple channel 1st gen or any other >2 channel board? The one I have is a Gigabyte I think.

Anyway I had four 4GB DDR3-1333 modules in the 6 memory slots and got around 11GB/sec memory speeds assuming that it went dual channel since it didn't have enough modules for triple channel. Now I stuck in two more 4GB modules, but they are DDR3-1600. I'm still getting 11GB/sec speeds according to memtest86...

Just wondering, anyone do memory speed analysis on these triple (and higher) channel memory boards? Are there any...

              AsRock B560 Pro4 Possible Short on +1.8VSB
              by zklgfs
              Hi,

I have an AsRock B560 Pro4 (boardview: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...pro4-schematic) that's completely dead (it doesn't even turn on the power supply when the power button is pressed or the power button pins are shorted). I do get about 3.4V on the power button pin, but 1.8VSB isn't there. The resistance to ground on the inductor PL53 is only about 0.1-0.4 Ohms. Am I correct in assuming that there must be a short...
