ASUS ROG Strix B550-I won't POST and cannot enter bios

    Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me? I have the above mentioned motherboard which is currently failing to POST. PC boots up to the ROG logo and remains there with the green QLED lit constantly. Pressing F2 and/or Del keys to enter the bios have no effect. I have tried using Flashback to flash the latest ASUS firmware for this board, this results in an fTPM nv corrupted message and pressing Y or N here restarts the PC putting me back where I started.

I have managed to dump the winbond (w25q256jw18) bios chip using a CH341A chip reader but haven't attempted a manual reflash yet (from what I can tell the flashbacks did work). Is there some way to reset the bios to factory settings manually? Is it just a case of extracting the bios file from the ASUS firmware cap file?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Did you try to remove your hard drive and boot? before saying anything is dead, you may need to try everything to get into the bios settings

Yes, I have removed the SSD and swapped out the RAM, but still get the same result. I also tried disconnecting the CMOS battery/shorting the CLEAR_CMOS pins but this did not work either. Unless anyone can think of anything else I'm going to probably try a manual flash of the bios and see if that does anything useful.

An update on this... I used UEFITool to extract the main bin file. I then attempted to use FD44Editor to update the MAC and Motherboard SN but I could not get the app to save my changes, ended up resorting to using HxD to search my original bios dump for these values and block copy them across to the extracted bin file starting at the same offsets and saving this to a new file. Reopened the new file in FD44Editor and the values appear to have stuck correctly! I then attempted an erase and flash with the new modded bios using NeoProgrammer and a WSON8 pogo adapter, this seemed to work but I could not verify the flash, I read back the bios image I wrote to the chip and compared it to the one I attempted to flash. They didn't appear to be the same (FD44Editor identified the new version though). Figured I would try to boot anyway but the board still won't POST. Ended up using Flashback to revert to a stock image for now. I'm stuck here same Green boot QLED logo, going to try disconnecting the CMOS battery and shorting the pins again, but I've pretty much run out of ideas, I feel like this board is repairable but the l am the limiting factor here If anyone can suggest more things to try please do it would be good to understand what has gone wrong.

          🛠️ MSI GP75 Leopard MS-17E71 – No Display, Deep BIOS/EC Troubleshooting
          by macabook
          Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a dead MSI GP75 Leopard (MS-17E71) motherboard (i7 CPU, NVIDIA GPU) with a no display/no backlight issue initially. After extensive investigation, I’m at a critical stage involving EC firmware, BIOS/ME region interaction, and possible deep corruption. I'm seeking advanced insight from anyone with experience in EC/BIOS sync issues or PCH-level behavior. Here’s a full breakdown:
          🧩 Initial Issue
          • Board powers on (fans spin, keyboard lights up and can be adjusted, caps lock led lights), but no display or backlight
          • External display (HDMI) shows

[Problem/ Request] Bricked TongFang GK7MRFR BIOS
          by cr4zychriss
          Hello everyone,
I am requesting urgent assistance to unbrick my laptop, a rebranded TongFang GK7MRFR chassis. The laptop is completely dead following a faulty in-OS EC flash attempt.
I have successfully used a CH341A programmer and can read/write/verify both flash chips, but using my backups/extractions has failed to restore power. The root cause is likely a corrupted Intel Management Engine (ME) region or an incompatible EC/BIOS pairing. System & Hardware Details

Asus ROG Strix Scar G533qm with a G733qm Motherboard, can I modify the Bios to accept G533 Bios
          by glovecaps
          Hello,

I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.

My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.

The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this...

ASUS Zenbook Pro Duo UX8402ZA BIOS
          by pirati
          Hello everyone,

I recently bought a non-working Asus Zenbook Pro Duo OLED UX8402ZA that was listed for parts only. The seller mentioned that it had no display output but that the charging lights worked.

When the laptop arrived (without a charger and SSD), I connected a charger and confirmed with a multimeter that it was charging the battery. However, when I tried to power it on, only the backlight of the secondary display came on. There was no image, and it didn’t boot into the BIOS.

I decided to try flashing a new BIOS, but since I didn’t want to desolder...
