I can mod the BIOS to disable the USB over current detection so it will not shutdown after 15 seconds, but you can only use Windows as the operating system. With Linux you will still get the USB OC message and continously spamming your terminal with it.
I have done this mod to an ASUS mobo that I own. I'm using the mobo daily for the past 2 years to help me test and repair graphics cards and I have no issue with the USB ports or any USB devices that I connect to it.

Upload it to file.io, and paste the link here. I will get back to you.
Removing ESD diodes don't really help. The same with checking the USB OC voltage sense resistor divider network. Mine are even still on point.
I found this problem to be specific only on Asus mobos with PCH chip that is going very hot all the time. It somehow messes up the USB OC detector inside the chip.
I don't know why they keep implementing this useless feature because it simply doesn't work at all, and there are already PTC fuses installed on board that can do the protection job much better.Comment

there are resistors connected to the OC pin, you should check those resistor values or maybe if any of them is open.
Last time I have this issue and found one resistor was off.
Should be easy to fix if you have the boardview file.Comment

Each usb port on a good design will feature a usb current limit load switch. These sot23-5 or sot23-6 parts act like solid state relays that pass through to the usb connector, VBUS pin the +5V. If the current draw by the usb device is higher than the usb load switch peak current, the switch will kill the vbus rail to this connector. A fault is reported to the usb host controller by a status pin. Often, the usb load switch dies in the process and needs to be replaced.Comment

Just so people don't keep sending me a chat message about disabling the USB over current auto shutdown.
The ZIP contain the modded BIOS CAP files for PRO and PLUS, latest version 4622. They have been verified to work by user Fernon
