    hp ms-7254 and sanyo cap replacement suggestion

    I've got 6 Sanyo 16v 1000uf WF S.E.6D 105 c, 8x20 esr = .012 ripple = 2200 (assuming WF series) caps that are bulging w/1 leaking.

    I'm trying to find replacements but I'm having trouble using those spec's.

    Can someone make a suggestion for replacements?

    Maybe I'm reading the spec's all wrong and that's my problem?
    esr = 0.012 ohms = 1.2 mOhms ?
    ripple = 2200 mA = 2.2 A ?

    If that's correct, when I use those spec's with 16v and 1000uF at 8x20; I'm not finding any matches.

    I'm looking at Digikey for these if that makes a difference.

      0.012 ohms is 12 milliohms, not 1.2.

        Thank You cheapie!
        I knew I must have been doing something wrong!
        I converted to MOhm instead of mOhm

        I still can't find a replacement.

          Not like it matters anymore, but you had converted to cOhm (centiohms). MOhm (megaohms) would be 0.000012.

          I found Nichicon LG series, which is polymer, has specs comparable to the current capacitors (i.e. should work, but no guarantee). It is slightly wider than the current capacitors.
          It has dimensions of 10x13 mm, ESR of 11 mOhms, and max ripple of 5600 mA. The ESR is close enough, the ripple, being a maximum, is not an issue, the voltage is the same, and the capacitance should be close enough. The only problem I can see would be the width.

          I have attached the datasheet.

            thats a rare sight, bloated sanyos. I wonder if the PSU is sending some crappy voltage to this MB

              cheapie,

              Thanks for all your help; I appreciate the ohm reading lesson...I knew I felt burned out the last couple of days but didn't think it was that bad

              While you were looking I also found a nichicon poly but I was wondering about the spec's, the capacitance is lower;
              Nichicon NE; 16v 470uF, esr = 12 mOhm, ripple = 5000 mA but there 8x11.5 which would fit the spot better. There are four caps in two groups right next to each other, not sure if 10's would fit.

              Uranium,

              The PSU is a bestec; voltage reads: 5.06 11.95 3.33; although I was blaming my original issue, a failed HDD, on our recent power brown out/ failures. We lose power for 2-10 seconds on occasions, which doesn't help me any.

              I only noticed the failed caps when I went to check out the HDD plus it seems to be running slow with issues with the dvd drive also.

                That's quite a bit lower... Usually, when polymodding, it's OK to lower capacitance as ESR goes down as well, but the current ESR is so low that it doesn't have much room to decrease. It might work, though, but the VRMs might not like the lower filtering. I'd say it's probably a 60-80% chance of that working. You might be able to fit the 10mm caps with some creative lead-bending. Also, you don't have to use polies, it's just hard to find lytics with only 12 mOhm (or less) ESR.

                Bestec isn't very good. They probably used cheap capacitors (they like Jamicon) that dried out and aren't filtering properly any more. That's probably why the caps on your motherboard died - they were doing almost all of the filtering.

                  Again, thanks cheapie,

                  tomorrow's another day...I'll probably order the poly's you found, there's only 4 caps with a tight fit.

                  I'm also going to find a different PSU, I opened it an there's one bad cap and it's buried under a lot of glue (fix that later).

                  These are business boxes and just so happens to be the payrole clerks pc; yikes! no pressure there to get it back up and running

                  As far as UPS's go, I've got one The company would rather deal with the individual outage than prevent it with up front costs

                    All the Sanyos bloated are input caps, i think your PSU is a killer, take some multimeter measurements on that 12v rail

                      Hey Everyone,

                      Long time lurker, but I think this is my first time posting.

                      Just looking for some assistance on identifying some suitable replacement capacitors for an MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0). I just got my hands on two of them actually, both working but one has some visibly bulging capacitors and the other has a few that I can't tell for sure if they're bulging because it's faint at best if they are.

                      I'll be honest I don't fully understand much on capacitor spec sheets beyond voltage and capacitance but I can solder like nobodies business so I've...

                      Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?
                      by the_rem
                      Hello guys,

                      I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

                      I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

                      i have a 2020 macbook pro 13" A2251 with 820-09149 logic board so i found an issue with chip labeled U6903 according to schem. boardview using flexBV software, so i removed it from the board and the issue im having is that the chip says "07A08FI ELC180" on top of it but when searching for a replacement chip, i can find tons of identical looking chips that also have "ELC180" printed on them but the first set of digits is never the same so im trying to find out if i need this exact chip with these same numbers as mine and if not which ones are compatible as a replacement?...

                      Hello,

                      First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

                      I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

                      I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."
                      ...

                      Is there any Diode Replacement for MPG06J?
                      by chth96
                      is there any replacement for MPG06J diode?
                      https://www.vishay.com/docs/88682/mpg06.pdf

                      It is very hard to find this MPG06J diode in my place.
                      I think that replacement should have the same ratings with MPG06J, But it is impossible for me to hunt down replacement for MPG06J diode.
                      Any reply would be appreciated.
