Re: Dumbest 'electronic' mistake you ever made
Yes, Joule effect kills you in a bad way , high voltage-low current gives you a heart attack . Those are my ideas, dunno for sure....

Re: Dumbest 'electronic' mistake you ever made
I was too young to understand details at that time, but Im pretty sure he shorted 3.3v and 5v rails to case, the funniest was his hair stand up and he threw the large Hercules board with fury against a wall and began to scream like a mad monkey. Evrething got burnt, even the psu and the computer repair workshop got discontinued in the absence of a computer!!, at that time, over here, a computer costs 5 month salary. Sorry for my english....

Re: Dumbest 'electronic' mistake you ever made
I bet you tell us at last one!. I'm pretty sure High Voltage is a plus+ for mistakes, and the most hazardous ones.
A colleague of mine got ruined his whole triceps muscle when fixing a microwave oven, a tiny tip of the wire pierce the high voltage transformer insulation and stick in his elbow till a siemens breaker saved his life but got permanently numb the triceps. I've read in local newspapers of amateur repair people who was found dead in bed from a heart attack after receive a discharge trying to...

Re: Dumbest 'electronic' mistake you ever made
I just remember a funny one, in 1994 was doing my first Computer repair workshop, computers over here were an UNKOWN MISTERY and the teacher was disarming a 486 dx4 machine when a kid ask him if it was good to plug a pci/isa board in the mobo off ,but pluged in..., the Teacher said OFF COURSE you can do that!, i could see the mobo green led on and the Teacher with a very large board (probably an Hercules VGA/LPT1) when the board was about 1 inch from the port: a very large lighting spark made an archand the old teacher began...

Dumbest 'electronic' mistake you ever made
Sadly I've made a lot....today i did the longest one, just received a pack of 10 brand new little 12v linear-transformer psu for alarms, then i measure polarity with my tester in voltage and i did get (- center,) in the 10 psu... i said weird stuff :S, i did a second measurement by doubts, and i began to open that damn plastic case with no screws just glued. Desolder wires- switch em and solder back again, re-glue the case and go for the next one and the next one when while soldering the third i watch my tester and see the fuck** red tip in the COM portit was my nephew...

"Scan for F2 Key Stroke" early init. halt
Hi guys, got a MSI Delta-L Mobo from a formwe unknown overclocker guy. I tried to boot with J10 Jumper in Safe Mode. I get these card reader codes : quick C1-C0 and it halts on AA :"Scan for F2 Key Stroke" , it is very early (same error w/o ram, agp) , could be a bad bios flash? . If i try to boot it without safe-mode jumper, i only get FF error. I'd really need this board. Thanks

Re: USB cable impedance / burnt wifi usb adapter :S
It is the only one that i could get to work with my 24dbi antenna, since plug the big antenna in a standard PCI wifi card I get worse signal than with the default 3dbi small one. I thought that maybe such a difference of impedance between the adapter and antenna could make this one to act like a mirrow and reflect the Signal Transmission back to the usb adapter and that way it got toasted :S could that be possible?

Re: USB cable impedance / burnt wifi usb adapter :S
Thank you
How can i test the line's noise? i've ran I/O software tester and works great with a card reader, but plug in and plug out stuff, a SD card died :S.
I thought that using custom ""quality"" thick speaker wire would turn to be a way better data line that those chinese hairy-copper usb extension. Could i replace the speaker wire data line by using 2 standard coaxial tv cable (75 ohms) ? or it will be worse than the speaker wires?...Last edited by Calchaqui; 08-24-2014, 06:19 AM.

USB cable impedance / burnt wifi usb adapter :S
Hello guys and sorry but i cant short it and i really need your insight:
Had a big wifi parabolic antenna (24dbi) connected with the default 1 feet 50ohm to a TP-LINK USB wifi adapter 7200-ND, and then a custom made USB extension (26 FEET, a little more than max. spec) that i build using standard speaker wire for the power lines , data+ data- usb lines, each pair homemade shielded with shield grounded to my house, host's edge ends in a Y-shaped to drain a few more mA. Tested with a pendrive, evrething seems ok with mobo's rear ports, pannels ports make crazy things and/or did not recognize....

Re: P35NEO post error n turn off, after recapping output cpu
"ala" tualatin mod? VRM modification just for increasing TDP? or agtl voltage/ lower vcores? , bios modification needed just to show correct cpu or needed to boot?. I'm ashame of them, but, I have 4 cheapo VIA P4M800 boards, DDR+DDR2, with very good cpu 4-phase VRM, recapped, they're hungry for at least a Celly Dual Core...

Re: P35NEO post error n turn off, after recapping output cpu
It was a messed bios bootblock, amibios.rom did it.
Guys, very OFFtopic, DOES the very FIRST lga775 mobos which only support P4/Celly D supports Dual cores? they got up to 1066MHz FSB, but it is a Vcore thing the incompataibility, or TDP thing? (like just Katmai and Coppermine ready boards) ?
