who else do they make motherboards for?

Re: ECS motherboards
ECS is PCChips, Amptron, Mercury, Kobian, (etc.) and many low-end Micro ATX boards.
They've probably taken someone over that I don't know about, too.You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!

Re: ECS motherboards
ECS also integrates systems for Fry's Electronics, using the "Great Quality" name.PeteS in CA
Power Supplies should be boring: No loud noises, no bright flashes, and no bad smells.

Re: ECS motherboards
ECS makes a cheap product, but they sell it for a cheap price. I've used several ECS boards in some "on-the-cheap" builds, and have almost always been happy with them. One suggestion is to replace the caps early on to prevent headaches down the road.Ludicrous gibs!

I'm using an ECS board right now. I only paid 16.99 USD including shipping from Newegg!

Re: ECS motherboards
old socket a ecs board was my fave, whenever i built system for friends with very low budget, they will be happy with that ecs i reccomended. i love chipset sis740 and 735. i never reccomend ecs+via chipset though.
like dood said, it is adivised to check the mobo for failing caps after 1-2 year. once it is recapped it will back to its best performance. what best is recapping it early and need not to worry later/forever..
i still think g-luxon and ost caps they used are craps. not if, it's a fact. ecs is also known for making false advertising with their onboard amd proc. well i dont know about the current ecs board (a64/intel chipset) coz no way i will buy ecs board again. (i think it's more a personal problem between me and ecs company
)
days are so short when you actually do something..Comment

Re: ECS motherboards
I'd say they build to their customers BOM, they make boards for all different manufacturers as their OEM, Look at the Abit VA20... it's an ECS KM400 board, the bios is even interchangeable.Originally posted by EmacsSo ECS is pretty much low end quality compaired to the other motherboard manufacturers?
They also own a portion of AMP, so if you see connectors on a "high end" mainboard, they are using a product owned by ECS...

I do have several old pc motherboards which i recapped 10 year ago and some of those caps are bulged now.
I would like to upgrade them using solid capacitors. I do use them for testing and helping some alternative operating systems.
I would like to ask if such an upgrade can be done, what should i have in mind when replacing electrolytic by solid caps and if such thing exist, if there are caps list for old motherboards. I would have to figure out what caps needs each motherboard and then prepare a list to try to ask for them on some electronics stores.-

by qwerty99Hello!
I need to change the capacitors on my three original Xboxes.
Two of them are 1.6B revisions and have Hynix RAM, and the other one is a 1.6 with Samsung RAM.
The 1.6 has the infamous Nichicon HM capacitors around the CPU, which have all bulged and started to leak. This Xbox no longer powers on.
The 1.6B revisions have Rubycon MBZ capacitors that all look fine, but I’ll change them in due course. Both of these work fine.
I’ve seen some excellent threads on the forum about replacing/upgrading capacitors, but I can’t... -
by FoetussHi all
Hope this is in the correct place.
I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid
.
Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

I would like to ask if there is some kind of capacitor lists for motherboards, power supplies, video cards, audio cards, microcontroller powered home appliances, and so, that i could try to find and download. I use to repair those things and i would find it helpful if i could know in advance what parts may i need for common repairs.

by blues_spiritHello from France,
mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...
Do you think this is feasible for me? I... - Loading...
