    msi 6382 v1

This is an oem board, got 1 that has all G Luxon 1500uF caps blown, 3 x 10v and 6 x 6.3v. Never noticed until posting that the board had 3 x 10v caps, ordered 6.3's Its got 3 x 4700uF 6.3v HD nichicon alu cans which look fine. Between pci slots 1 & 2 a sanyo 1000uf 6.3v and 3 Chhsi 1000uF 6.3v, the sanyo is lower in height than the others. Its a project board so if it doesn't work, nothing lost, just a bit annoyed not noticing the 3 10v's. I'll post a photo of the board if there's interest.

6.3v caps of better quality would be fine. There's only three positive voltages going through a board: 3.3v, 5v, and 12v. MSI wouldn't have used 10v caps on a 12v line; the higher rating of the caps is to make up for their lower quality. They'll be on the 5v, so you'll be fine with your 6.3s.

The Nichicons are almost certainly fine, I believe the Sanyo is as well. Might be a good idea to replace the Chhsis too, they're certainly not good caps, worse than G-Luxon even. If you don't, just keep an eye on them.

Good luck! I'm sure someone'll come by with specifics if I missed anything.
You know there's something wrong when you open up a PSU and are glad to find Teapos.
Why I don't buy cheap cases!

Just a quick update, I've replaced the 6 G Luxon 6.3v 1500uF caps and 3 Lelon 10v 1500uF caps, the board seems to be fine so far. As this was a project the caps used were yageo 6.3v 1500uF. 7 of the 9 caps were in a bad way. I haven't bothered with the 11 or so Chhsi 1000uF 6.3v caps as yet. Needed the 50w iron to do the job, and clearing those holes!

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
        by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

        Heathkit IO-4205 Power Supply Caps
        by eryjus
        Hello,

First, I am a complete noob with high voltage stuff. I'm learning, but I need help by someone looking over my shoulder.

I recently came into posession of a Heathkit IO-4205 5MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope. The documentation is copyright 1978. I'm told it works.

I opened it up to check the caps before I applied power, and found the following black caps and wanted to know what they were. They are on the power supply board. I was able to read the name and model and came up with, "Nytronics 162J-1, 0.1uF, 20% tolerance, 2000VDC."

Identifying caps on an old Zoom 9000
        by Paxman_Swede
        Hello!

I have two projects on my work bench. One is a friends dead JBL Xtreme speaker with a blown voltage regulator and corresponding bulged and shorted cap. That cap has clear markings so I know what replacement I need for it.

The other project however is a whole different deal. It's a Zoom 9000 guitar effect from the 90th that has developed a devil hound howl when there is no input from the guitar. I'm guessing caps problem. So, since I don't really use this effect anymore I thought it would be a perfect project to learn on.

I have studied the board and...

        MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0)
        by ssl6
        Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker, but I think this is my first time posting.

Just looking for some assistance on identifying some suitable replacement capacitors for an MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0). I just got my hands on two of them actually, both working but one has some visibly bulging capacitors and the other has a few that I can't tell for sure if they're bulging because it's faint at best if they are.

I'll be honest I don't fully understand much on capacitor spec sheets beyond voltage and capacitance but I can solder like nobodies business so I've...

Help with switching power supply caps
        by captain150
I'm trying to repair two old VCRs, they both have bad caps. One has leaky ones, the other would barely run until I subbed in some caps from another power supply I had laying around (though they are the wrong values). This vcr works for an hour or two, but then the power supply starts whining and the picture gets lines in it. I didn't replace all the secondary caps, so another voltage might still be problematic, or the values I used are too far off.
I've been on mouser and digikey but the options are a bit overwhelming. I just need some new ones that will work. They don't need to be top quality,...
