Imac g5 2006, no chime, some artifacts, freezing

    Hi,

My imac g5 has just died i think ;( Bought it 2 yrs. ago with a faulty PSU and worked fine after repairing it!

Status right now, all of a sudden:
    - no chime anymore
    - freezes with white screen
    - seeing some artefacts at the place of the Apple logo.

When hitting the Imac a little bit, i see some pink artefacts. I tried to reflow the nVidia fx5200 ujyt322GPU, but still it isn't working.

Does anyone recognise this problem? All three leds lighten up, butt the fact i don't hear the chime is something i can't explain?

    Question:
    - Does a failing GPU makes the chime disappear?
    - Is this the GPU that is failing?

(Today or tomorrow i'll swap the HDD and PSU from another Imac i have to be sure they're not the problem.

(No visible damages to the midboard capacitors. Heating them isn't the solution, so i guess they're not the problem.

Probably the gpu, try pressing on it when it is running.

iMac 27" Retina 5K i5 3.2Ghz no chime, no display, LED 1 and 2 on
      by moritz1992
Good evening guys, im new to this forum and searched around it to find a way to fix my broken imac 27 retina late 2015. Logic Board is 820-00292-A
      Here´s the problem :
After i changed the blade ssd with an NVME SSD and accidentially bent some cpu socket pins (managed to get them straight up again, one pin broke but seems to be N/C) while trying to get some fresh thermal paste, i hear no chime and have no display. LEDs 1 and 2 are green but 3 and 4 not. I did some measuring and it seems that gfx_ok, is ok but dp_ok, is not okay. Checked some caps and diodes in circuit but everything...

iMac 21.5" - power up chime but no sound once OS is loaded
      by survivalbloke
Have a 21.5" 2013 iMac here. Did a RAM upgrade and the oddest thing, we can't get any sound after it's booted. So Youtube, etc, nothing. We do get the startup chime though. In sound properties, all we see is the digital output. Did a little reading to discover possibly inserting a 3.5mm headphone into the jack would trip it back off the digital setting but that's not the case it seems. The headphone jack is verified connected to the logic board.

      Any insights?

Can an iMac chime if the logic board is bad?
      by Crystaleyes
      Hi all.

A friend has a 2011 iMac which chimes (and apparently plays music) but was told by a technician that the logic board needs replacing.

The screen stays black, but music apparently plays when the keyboard 'play' button is selected.
      A bit beyond my experience...??!!??

I was under the impression that bad logic boards don't give the Apple chime.

Anyway, they are bringing it over tomorrow where I'll check the diagnostic LED's to get a better idea. Seems more like a PSU, GPU or inverter problem to me.

      A bad...

iMac A1418 - No LED, no power after overvoltage on Ethernet port
      by ryogadan78
Hi guys, I need your help again.
I have this iMac from a customer that shut down during a storm along with all the other devices in the house. In particular, the router, connected via Ethernet to the iMac, caught fire.
When I removed the screen from the iMac to check the status of the LEDs, I noticed that none of them were lit. I had a perfectly compatible and working power supply, so I tried it right away, but the problem remained the same (no LEDs). With the thermal camera, I noticed only a slight warming (32 degrees) of the NCP1605BG chip on the power supply. The rest was completely...

      iMac M1 DFU restore issue
      by Stephen
iMac turns on no drops no cracks, tried to DFU Restore the iMac, logo turns on great! however iMac turns itself off and then restarts to the (!) icon and won't post the restore. Tried thunderbolt 3 cable, tried regular USB C cable and nothing.

this is the message it gives me with the error

Unexpected device state 'DFU' expected 'RestoreOS' (Probably forced into DFU mode externally) [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore – 0xFAE (4014)].

Any thoughts what this could be? I will open it up and repair it but I am not 100% sure since this iMac doesn't...
