    Msi ms-6577 (hp)

    Hey Guys,
I want to replace the capacitors on this board. Most are swollen, some are leaking.
This computer came from my son-inlaw and it took me almost 2 hrs just to clean the dust out. After I disassembled it. I'm thinking this was a major contributor the the failing capacitors.

Listed below are the capacitors I need to replace. I have already replaced 6 capacitors with Rubicon 10mm x 20mm 2200uf 6.3v. (direct size replacements)
These are what I need and can anyone tell me what is the best brand to put in?
    8mm x 16mm - 1000uf 10v (need 5)
    8mm x 20mm - 1800uf 6.3v (need 5)
    10mm x 20mm - 2200uf 6.3v (need 8 more)

Anyone have any suggestions as to maybe I should go with a higher voltage rating? What does the uf rating have to do with? Can I go higher or lower on this?

    Thanks

    Panasonic FJ / FM series
rubycon MBZ / ZL series is gd.

you can only go higher and NOT LOWER voltage

I agree with ant3203 Never replace an electrolytic with one that has a lower voltage rating.
the capacitance value of an electrolytic capacitor is "easy to please", and an exact uF replacement is not necessary, the uF or "microfarad" is a moderate unit of capacitance, capacitance value indicates how big an electrical charge the capacitor can store. For example, you can replace a 30 uF with a 33 uF or replace a 20 uF with a 22uF. If you can't find a close replacement...better to go with a higher uF value than a lower uF, just make sure you have room for it to fit.
The old "rule of thumb" when replacing electrolytic capacitors is to not wander to far from the 20% tolerance of the original capacitor's farad rating.
also badcaps sells a kit for that mobo https://www.badcaps.net/store/produc...products_id=96 might be worth checking in to..

That's a start but need to know the make [brand] and series [model] of the old caps before the correct specs can be looked up.
        .
For example a ZL is no where near good enough if the old cap's grade is up around FJ or MBZ.

Hey Guys! Many thanks for your input.. Looks like the kit is the way to go. I sure wish this was a model I could just toss out.. But, gotta keep it alive..

I am also going to see what brand they and series they are.

Is it no harm to replace with capacitor without ripple current rating?
            by chth96
When I tried to repair LG 29 inch CRT TV, I found that the ESR value of samyoung SMS capacitor(160v 2.2uf), which is very close to D1879 transistor, is 6 ohm.

Judging from above ESR Meter Table,I think It is necessary to replace this sms capacitor. So I visited local electronics shop, and I purchased 160v 2.2uf rubycon YK capacitor.
But when I browse through rubycon YK datasheet,I found that there is no ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf specification. But On the contrary, I found 39 mA ripple current rating for 160v 2.2uf SMS capacitor.
            Rubycon YK DataSheet (b...

Luxman R-5045 - Capacitor at amplifier output broke, can i replace with higher capacitance ?
            by mikkele86
Hello Im renovation a Luxman R-5045

On the attached picture there is a cap 0.047uF (47nF) and a resistor, 10ohm. What is their purpose ? and what would happend if I were to replace the caps with lets say, 10nF or 100nF ?
because thats what i got in stock :/

            Cyberpower 1500AVR UPS repair
            by quickname
I'd like to start out by thanking this forum for providing the info to be able to repair my 15 year old CP1500AVRLCD UPS. Here is all the info I gathered during my trouble-shooting and re-capping.

Like clockwork, I've had to replace the SLA batteries every 4 years. It was about that time and the UPS was acting like it needed new batteries... randomly shutting off with AC present, not being able to charge fully, and poor runtime when AC was removed. So, I replaced the batteries but noticed that it was not charging properly.

I decided to verify that the batteries were...

Dell Optiplex GX260 - Advice Needed for Polymodding Motherboard
            by SwedishDiesel
            Howdy folks,

I have an Optiplex GX260 that blew a couple of those troublesome Nichicon HM series (ultra low ESR) electrolytic capacitors. Because said caps are obsolete, they are pretty much impossible to find on the market; I did find a listing for some but I believe they are counterfeit. I feel the easiest thing to do would be to replace all the blown caps with polymer ones. I am by no means an expert in electronics, and I've found a fair bit of conflicting information, so any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated. While from a practical standpoint it's not worth...

            Audio Linear Power Supply (LPS)
            by Bugmanscj
Hi: Found this forum fumbling over the net looking for replacement capacitors for a high quality 2uv ripple model Kaia, Core Audio Technology LPS. I bought it used on fleabay and figured I would have to recap and sure enough one of the 22,000uf 35V 105c caps is bulging. These supplies were made briefly around 2014 for MAC Mini audio servers, and were quite costly at the time ($1.7k), you know it's audio... I will use it for a video processor power supply to replace a switched version. I figure it's a low cost attempt to see/hear what difference it might make in my system. Plus I get to learn...
