Asus Rog Strix Z370-E motherboard no POST or QLED lights

    Hi,

Strange problem. Motherboard was working prior to removing from PC case. Following removal, it switches on but won't POST and none of the QLEDs light up.

I've removed the BIOS IC 25Q128A and have written the latest BIOS to it.

I've checked the CPU core voltage and it's present at 1V.

Still won't POST or show any QLED lights. The boardview is available from this site, the sub-forum to this one. Haven't got a schematic though.

I'm not very familiar with motherboards. Can anyone advise please?

Check for 3.3v on bios chip. If you don't have that then bios won't be read by ec chip which is what controls the boot leds.

I fixed the motherboard. There was a supply missing but I can’t remember any of the designations right now, I’d need the board view open on my PC. It was due to a couple of side-by-side 0 ohm links having overheated and no longer making good contact with the PCB.

Highlighted in red is one of the two 0 ohm resistors that weren't making good contact with the PCB. Despite this boardview showing 3 resistors, only two are actually present.

This caused the 3V supply from the PSU connector to not make it to the various ICs and other parts. Result was no QLED lights, CPU didn't get warm, etc.

Asus ROG Strix Scar G533qm with a G733qm Motherboard, can I modify the Bios to accept G533 Bios
            by glovecaps
            Hello,

I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.

My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.

The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this...
