It is a transistor or regulator of some type. Can you get the number off the chip? That will help in identifying it.

      i think i have a 7dxr in my pile o boards.
if you can find the designation on the board i can look at mine.
probably a mosfet used as a chopper or syncronous rectfier.

If you have access to a web server, you can post the pic here. If not, email the pic to admin@badcaps.net. I can post on one of my web servers, and we can try and figure it out...

Diagnosing South Bridge (FH82H370) on Asus H370-Pro Gaming Motherboard
              by Ross Kohler
              Hi,

I'm learning about motherboard repair and I believe I've traced the issue down for the South Bridge on the particular motherboard I'm working on. My path of concluding that:
              - There's no sign of any attempt to power on when pushing the power button.
              - No PSON signal is reaching the 24-pin ATX connector.
              - The Super IO chip is receiving the PS_SWITCH signal from the power button and is relaying this signal back to the South Bridge.
              - The Super IO is not receiving the S_SLPS#_R signal back from the South Bridge
              - If I pull the Super IO S_SLPS#_R pin...

Aluminum SMD caps vs thru hole caps (reliability)
              by 13mh13
The PCB motor for 1987 Technics SLP-120 CD player has slow spin-up issues. Similar to what another tech in the below video reported.

I replaced the three bi-polar 47uF electros but that made no difference. The orig three bi-polar 47uF electros tested okay on my ESR M-tester.
I have not tested/replaced those alum. SMD electro PCB caps.
Are Al smd caps are more prone to failure (or degradation) than regular thru-hole electros?
All the thru hole electros I removed / replaced on this CDP (and most...

How to correctly desolder through hole IC?
              by LearningToRepair
              Hi!

I tried to desolder through I had IC that I wanted to replace but failed. And now I came here to learn what's the correct way for doing this. I tried to use soldering wick but the capillary force kept solder in the hole. With soldering wick I only managed to remove the part of solder that was outside the hole. But the solder that was inside the hole never got out. And of course when I moved on to next pin the solder in previous hole hardened again so no matter how many times I did all the pins there was still solder in holes.

Question 1: what would have been correct...
