RX580 GPU have all the right voltages but won't turn on

    Hi Guys,

I just replaced 2 blown fuses on the 12V rail of a RX580 sapphire 8go even though i didn't find any sign of shorts on the 5V, 3.3V or 12V with my multimeter. I don't know the history of the card..

i followed step by step the video from TECH Cemetery (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=supu7YeNTfw) but when on his RX580 sapphire 8go he doesn't have VCORE mine does but won't turn on .. I watched many video but i don't find same situation i m facing. So im clearly lost because all measurements steps i did on the GPU are fine. I have a B550m, a 550W psu, 16go ram...

If i connect the RX580 to the motherboard without the PCIE 8pin connected, the PC will turn on. But fans from the GPU won't start and obviously no pictures on the screen. If i connect the external PCIE 8, nothing will happen, the PSU won't boot.

To be able to make measurement and found i have Vcore, i tested the GPU alone so i use a PCIE riser connected to the PSU. To supply 12V to the 8 pins connector PCIE from GPU, i use a Laboratory PSU. When i start the whole thing, i can see the PSU Lab is delivering 0.4A to the board from 8 pin PCIE. Fans doesn't spin.

Here my measurements (all are exactly similar to the ones mentionned by the video) :

    Tab of 5V regulator : 1.6Kohm and 5V ok
    1.8V caps : 3.9Kohm and 1.8V ok
DIsplay rail : 32 Ohm and 0.9V ok
    Memory controller : 32 Ohm 0.98V ok
    Memory : 24 Ohm 1.5V ok
    NCP81022 VCC is 4.9V, Enable is 3.3V
    Vcore is 0.9V

At this moment, i feel frustration. Note that the ATX PSU will not want to power ON when the GPU is fully connected to it.. We could suppose its because of a short but if i connect a LAB PSU to the external 8 pins, the amp are taken from the 12V !....

If you guys could give me advices it would be so helpful... If the GPU was fried i wouldn't have these measurement so there is something wrong... and also because 12V fuses on external 8Pins where blown in the first place...

    Cheers !

Did you check phases with oscillator ?

GPU heats up if you try to turn it on or connect it to the power supply?

EVGA 430W PSU Correct voltages but computer won't turn on
        by objecttothis
I had a desktop form factor mini-server die on me a few weeks ago. Through my initial diagnostics, I was convinced it was the motherboard because when I shorted the Green wire on the ATX connecter, the multimeter gave me all the correct voltages on the various pins of the ATX connector and 5VSTB was also correct. To my surprise the replacement motherboard wouldn't turn on with the case power button either. I threw in another PSU and it turned on right away. This is an 80 Plus EVGA 430W PSU with PN:100-W1-0430. I pulled the cover off and don't see any immediately obvious blown caps or scorch...

Stubborn GIGABYTE B365M AORUS ELITE - main PCIe x16 GPU port working only in x8 width mode
        by DynaxSC
        Hi,

I have this board, where I have exchanged the LGA1151 socket. During testing I discovered, that the large PCIEX16 slot won't by no force work in x16 mode, but keeps to work in x8 mode only.
I tested this with GPU-Z, also with Render Test (but tried also Furmark and Heaven Benchmark - no effect).
Tested on Core i5-9600K as well as on an Pentium G5420 and MSI NVIDIA GTX1070 and 2 other cards, including RTX3060Ti.
Board architecture definitely allows x16 mode, as all 16 PCIe lanes are present between CPU and main GPU slot (nearest to CPU).

hi i have a msi mpg z390m gaming edge ac mb. that wont turn on when i short the 2 pins on the front connectror.
im new in electrionic repair. and i hope that someone will share a bit knowledge, thoughts or ideas with me and others, to repair that damm thing ;D
        1. thought psu problem. nope psu is good. i even bought a psu tester to be save.
        2. thought a short somewhere that the psu goes in short save mode. nope... no short to measure with my multimeter to ground. psu and mainboard starts with all cabels plugget in, when i bridge green and black on the 24 pin.

Lenovo Y700-17ISK turn on and off
        by pajdek
Hello, i have some issues with my laptop Lenovo Y700-17ISK (motherboard BY511 NM-A541), it started when i turn on the laptop, but the lcd wont turn on, i then connected it via hdmi to tv and screen was ok. So i thought maybe lcd stripe is faulty, i removed the bottom cover, disconnected main battery, reset the cmos by disconnecting battery for 1 min, then slighty move the lcd stripe. Conncted power supply and tuned on my laptop, the lcd turn on, it started to load os, then it turn off, after a second it turn on, then after like 3 seconds turn off again, and so on. Removed power supply, waited...

Powersupply has all the voltages - Monitor still no power
        by Capacitorial
        Hello guys,

I have a Philips 240B7QPJEB. The monitor seems completely dead.
I opened it and measured the voltages of the powersupply. I found that a mosfet was dead and replaced it.
On the connector, that goes to the TCON board, all voltages 15-19V and 5V are present.
The small connector on the left of the PSU has two cables with 18V and all the other have 0.2V. It connects on this small connector on the left ontop of the panel. I guess the backlight? Seens fine I guess.
The weird thing is, that the Power LED is powered over the TCON board.
        On The TCON...
