    D-Link DES-1016D not working

    It has a 3.3V power supply.

    There was a bulged Teapo 1000uF 10V and 1 22uF 50V Teapo that had a little higher esr than normal. I replaced them with 22uF 50V Rubycon YXF and 1500uF 6.3V Nippon-Chemicon KZE (this is the closest grade cap I had in stock).

    The power supply is working, but when it is connected with the controller board it refuses to start. The same happens with any computer power supply that I connected. They act like shorted.

    So there must be a problem with the hub controller... Is it fixable? Looking it I can't see many parts that can be tested with a multimeter and changed if they are found bad....

      The RTL8316 is 3.3v only. The RTL8208 is 3.3v and 2.5v. 2.5v is controlled by the RTL8208 and requires a PNP transistor which must be Q1 and Q2. Each base should connect to pin 116 of a RTL8208. I don't know if any of that will help.

      I'd just hook a bench supply up and slowly turn the voltage up to 3.3v until something heats up. If there's a short then 5A will be drawn at about 0.3v and one of the chips will heat up.

          I tested Q1, Q2 and U3 but none was found shorted or open. The only solution now could be the bench supply... but I don't have one.

          But even if I had I don't know how easy it would be to change one of the RTL ICs or the others.

              I usually don't change those big chips even though I can. I just like to be certain where the problem is so I can quit fussing with it.

                  Have you checked those diodes especially the one closest to the power conection? Its usually there to shunt overvoltage to ground but can short circuit to ground.

                      They have no white bar or any rating. I don't think they are diodes...

                              I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

                              One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

                              Dear forum members,
                              I'm working on this power supply for ps4 slim, that behaves in a similar manner as other cases but I can't find a way to solve the problem.
                              When it came to me, externally the ps4 had standby voltage, clicking the disc eject button made the triple beep (without disc inside) and cliking on the power button made the blue power light turn on and then all turned off within 1 second.
                              When I opened it up, I found these components shorted:

                              I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                              Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                              I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                              The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                              With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                              The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
                              Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
                              I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
                              I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...

                              I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

                              This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board
