Synlogy DS218 Play - After wrong power supply - 1HDD not powering up

    Hello,

I got this Synology DS218Play. Wrong power supply was connected (19V instead of 12), Synology is working booting, HDD1 is ok but HDD2 is not spining. Looking at SATA connector, there's no 5 V for HDD2.

I've measure THe PIN on SATA connector and I get between 0,4 to 1.35 V... it depends when I measure. I can find same voltage on PIN 7&8 of Mosfet 4953A.

    https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf/104652...ductor/4953A/1

I could make jump from working 5V from HDD1 ? Or try to fix 5V on HDD2. i can't find any boardview or schematic

    Thanks
    Sam

I guess Synlogoy are not so popular. I'll try to bridge 5V then.

You can bridge 5v , it's no problem as sometimes we do eject external voltages , but the problem is will 4953A take two satas instead of one ..I really doubt that since they could have put only one initially for the two if it's sufficient.. And it doesn't matter if Synology or Extream or other devices . Most of them have two seats for ide or sata devices , and basically similar designs and functions .

LG 55UH6150- trouble powering up, then half lit screen (pictures!)
            by valvashon
The 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it...

Asus 2021 ROG Strix G17 G713 not powering on and not charging.
            by DarKHawK
            Hi,

I have an Asus 2021 ROG Strix G17 G713 that is not powering on and not charging. Board number is G533-6050A3250201.
When plugged in, I found that the 3.3v/5v regulator was getting extremely hot, so I removed, next I found a short on the 3.3V rail. Removed the two 3.3v mosfets and found one of them shorted, but still the short on the rail did not clear. Then I injected voltage at that rail, and found out that U60400 the 2.5v rail was also getting hot. Removing it changed the short from 0 ohms to about 5-6 ohms, then I remove a bunch of other suspect components but that did...

Sonos Play 1 pulsing power supply
            by Goldwing1973
I'm rather new to repairing electronics, i do know the basics of most components but never actually repaired a PCB, but i want to change that.
So, i bought a faulty Sonos Play 1 speaker with the intention of finding the fault, and replace the damaged part.
Well, i did find the fault, i replaced parts that i thought caused the problem, but no-go.

The problem is a pulsing power supply, when i connect the mains to the board and hook up my thermal cam i see R306,307 and 308 getting warm, but i assume that's normal.
But, whats is not normal is the pulsing of resistor...

Strange! Acer laptop not powering on but charging the battery (orange light on when charger and battery plugged in).
            by serious_electron
            Hello Everyone!

I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died.

            ASUS UX481FLY Turns on sometimes
            by vinayck
Might have some liquid damage (from > 1 year ago, was completely fine until a month ago) - unable to notice anything wrong easily on the motherboard (Core i7, GPU MX250, UX481FLY). I have cleaned parts of the motherboard with some oxidation with solder and flux - did not help.
Laptop does turn on sometimes and is fully functional. However, while it is fully functional - (1) If rebooted, most of the times it enters a restart loop with blank screen (2) Sometimes, it crashes by itself and enters restart loop - with no relation to CPU/GPU load, heat, etc.
I found that If I remove the...
