PE1164T , Compaq CRT monitor schematic / advice please

Hi all

Customer mentioned the monitor working until he tried to connect a HDMI to VGA adaptor .

Now picture pulses , with HT at 52V - 58V

Removed line output transistor & transformer , then powered monitor with a 100W bulb as a dummy load from HT rail to GND .

Supply stabilized at 50V with bulb dimly lit .

Surely this is too low .

Potentially PSU issue ?

Taken screening can off tube base , to check around as VGA goes straight in & taking into account how it failed could be on the right track .

who pays to get a what is it 19 inch crt fixed? can get a used flat panel for 20 bucks on any corner here. might want to keep that customer, looks like they won't throw ANYTHING away. I could not live with that thing taking up 5 times the space and weighing 10 times as much, I'd end up whacking it with a hammer.

CRT monitors making a massive comeback here in the UK with the retro gaming community & they do pay good money for repairs .

It's a shame i have forgotten most of my theory & experience

Thought it must be a regional thing, I couldn't wait to get rid of mine, they're so damn heavy ugly and bulky, really hate the ones that don't even have a flat tube, just couldn't go back to that distorted picture, just like old round tvs. once I saw the difference between a flat tube tv, even the first ones out that were crt, could never go back to those round distorted by design of the round tube ones, no choice of course in the old days.

Same here , couldn't go back to CRT , but happy to repair them, if the pay is good .

Still seems to trip with all connectors removed from tube base
