• Feedback on this - gave up trying to repari the PSU - I think the transformer suffered a short or the switching chip is dead. The primary PSU outputs 14v and 5v with the 14 going to the DC-DC upconverter to 600v for the backlight and the 5v for the logic board. I removed the transformer to isolate the primary PSU and then added a DC jack to the 14v rails, then just added a small cheap buck converter board to bring that down to 5v and feed the logic board. I now have the monitor working perfectly from a 12v external brick power supply.

  • Acer x163w Monitor PSU schematic

Ii wonder if anyone can help me. I have a Acer x163w monitor which is not powering up. The PSU main capacitor's one leg had completly come off - I replaced it but the PSU is still not outputting DC. I found the monitor in questions service manual here on manuals lib but the schematic in there is a completely different - the schematic shows no mosfet to drive the transformer while the one I have does use a mosfet - also the schematic shows only one optocoupler but mine has two.
The PSU board is labelled FM-20A02-AAA...

  • Re: Dell U27173HMt 27 inch screen flickering and lines

@pronester did you have any luck yet? I have a 2717 that intermittently does this, it will have a similar display and also emit a hissing type sound. Pressing the front power button off and then back on typically resolves it (sometime s few time) so I suspect that something is on its way out.

  • Re: Dell U2312H Repair

CHeck the voltage output of the regulator first, if it is giving 3.3v then this is not your issue. I actually replaced mine by wiring in one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/MINI-3A-DC-DC-3V-5V-16V-Converter-Step-Down-buck-Power-Supply-Module/273523150907?hash=item3faf40103b:g:CWoAAOSwVE9b0BF~:rk:3:pf:0 configured to output 3.3v
The monitor ran fine for three weeks like this while I waited for the correct ordered part. I suspect that it would have run indefinitly with this as wellRe: Dell U2312H Repair

...voltage output

  • Re: Dell U2312H Repair

Just a shout out to doomsweek, I have the same monitor that was occasionally not powering up, initially I was looking to replace all the caps and then when googling the power board I found this post. My 3v regulator seems to be intermittent, currently I have hard wired a small ebay sourced switch mode regulator module set to 3.3v and it is currently working perfectly - just awaiting a new G1084-33 that is on order (stupid shop in my country says I need to order minimum 20 units though)
