    EMAX monitor overheating?

Got an emax monitor that seems to overheat. I'll turn it on and it will work for a while, then it will go blank. I'll leave it off for 15 minutes and it will start working again after it's cooled down.

I've taken it apart and everything looks ok. no visably popped caps on either board. Since it's a heat issue, i'm thinking it's one of the mosfets possibly? Any ideas on how to proceed?

The unhelpful comment: Use the classic troubleshooting approach. Find the bad part, replace it.

Trying to be helpful; it's unlikely that it is a mosfet. It is much more likely that the problem is on the logic card. I would suspect the processor, but it could also be one of the voltage regulators.

The classic approach to identifying the problem - hot and cold. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to see if heating a component will speed up the failure. Use freeze spray to see if cooling a component will delay the failure.
