    Trying to find part

    Hi,

I am working on a westinghouse monitor and i am trying to find out about a specific part. The marking on the part (see enclosed pic .....box in red around part) is W2X.

    Anyone have any ideas.

Well, it's a transistor. And if you look at the extreme right hand side of the picture you will see another one of them. Actually, you'll probably be able to find a bunch of them. Seriously, the best chance of solving this is to find as service manual or schematic for the monitor.

yes, i had an earlier post for this as well.

I have not been able to fix this monitor. The other day someone brought me a monitor that had the same board as the westinghouse i was trying to fix. I did some comparing between boards and the w2x device that was on my board (note: i soldered a new w2x part onto my board) did not have the same resistance measurements between the leads as the other board. This new other board.......works...........mine does not.........so i started thinking that the w2x part that i put into my board may have been the wrong one.

          >>did not have the same resistance measurements between the leads as the other board.<<

In circuit or out of circuit? In circuit could mean it's bad or other parts it's connected to are failed. Out of circuit, means it's bad either leaky or shorted.

Were the readings changed after you replaced it with the new one?
Did you compare the new ones readings to the one you removed before you installed it?
