I have a Hanns-G HSG 22" monitor that I bought for our church from eBay. It worked well for about 3 months never being shut off. One day I thought, Hmm I should shut it off.... what a mistake. The next time it was powered up it did the infamous 2 seconds to black. I brought it to my shop expecting fried inverter transformers and or fat caps but found none nor any other part that seemed bad. Encouraged by this site I recapped the whole thing to no avail. So I found a new power supply / inverter board on the net (new) and bought it, that didn't fix it. No wonder I couldn't find anything wrong with the old board!
So now it has to be the back light right?
One of them hisses like a snake just before shutdown.
Any ideas before I rip into it further? back light ccfl bulbs in lcds, their troubleshooting and replacement is kind of new territory for me.
