    acer a1716s monitor

I have taken apart this acer monitor and noticed that on the main board there 5 teapo caps all 100uf 16v. on the power board there are su'scons
    These are the su'scons -
    1 1000uf 25v
    2 1000uf 10v
    1 470 uf 25v
    1 220 uf 25v
    4 47 uf 25v

What do you guys reckon ..would you change all the caps on both pcbs ?

    Cheers

    Hello Sam67,

I'm not an expert by any means, but I'm sure you would make it easier for people to help you if you would let them know what was wrong with the monitor in the first place

There is nothing wrong with the monitor ,i am just asking the more knowledgeable folks on here if these caps are worth changing ?

Especially now i have the pcbs out ...If anyone thinks these are ok to leave in then fine if not i will replace with better ones..Does not hurt to see what the more experience guys think regarding these manufacturers .

Replace them with Panasonic FC or FMs. Preventive measure against the existing Sucks'con installed ....

            Re: acer a1716s monitor

            Hi guys..

I have looked on digi-key for the caps and these are what i managed ..

            All Panasonic FMs

            2x 1000uf 25v
            3x 1000uf 10v
            2x 470uf 25v
            2x 220uf 25v
            5x 47 uf 25v
            6x 100uf 25v ( this one i upped the voltage from 16v to 25v)

Can anyone explain why digi-key wants to charge me £12.00 ( which is summat like just over $19.00 US ) to ship to uk..

The total price of the caps are only £4.47 (just over $7 US ).

            Thanks

No problem for the V rating.

resolder the inverter transformers while you are in there.
                    common failure.
and resolder anything that looks suspect.
just did a hipro out of a sff emachines that at first glance looked ok.as i did the recap the ring cracks started sticking out like a sore thumb!

                        Re: acer a1716s monitor

Just like to say that i managed to get hold of some caps over here in uk..Had to buy quantity's of 5 ..All were pan FMs so i have a few spare lol...

Took the old ones out and put the new one's in tonite and all went well using the monitor now .

I thought i'd give the teapo's and SU'Scons a once over with ESR meter v4 that i got from mike.

All the caps i removed were fine no issues..Must say i know Su'scons are not rated that much on here but i have them in my bestec psu and on motherboard and have been using this PC since i got it in 2005 and it's never been off (maybe i am lucky ).

I am gonna change them though and take apart my main monitor to see whats in there..

Anyway just thought i'd update on my progress with the recap of this acer monitor i picked up .
