Re: Need help DCLCD 19" LCD Monitor - I already replaced caps
I am not even gettiing 1V out of any of the wires on the long connector as listed before, even with the new cap.

Ok, the 22uF cap is in and no change. The clicking noise is still there. Replace the 100uF large cap next I assume?Leave a comment:

Ok thanks. I guess I will have to wait until the new cap arrives.Leave a comment:

The ticking is the SMPS controller trying to start up. If the little cap is proven to be bad and replaced with a good one, the ticking will go away.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help DCLCD 19" LCD Monitor - I already replaced caps
I put the cap back in. No difference. I can hear a steady ticking noise that coincides with the voltage pulses mentioned earlier. I seems to be in the area of the yellow transformer or the sink next to it. I can't pinpoint it. Any input on this?Leave a comment:

Re: Need help DCLCD 19" LCD Monitor - I already replaced caps
Right now I have the 22uF cap out so I can't try it. I may just put it back in and give it a try since the new caps haven't arrived yet.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help DCLCD 19" LCD Monitor - I already replaced caps
I am waiting for my 22uF caps to come in so in the mean while, I was reflowing the solder on the connector and the transformers as you suggested to others.
On the SOIC-8 PWM chip, I found a single strand of copper wire that looked like it was laying between the two pins where the yellow line off the yellow circle is on the attached pic. I had it under a microscope and when so I brushed it off of the board. It was so small, I couldn't find it on the table. Maybe a failure mode?
I also measured the 22uF cap with a Fluke and it returned 21.7uF. Hmmm... I don't know about under a load though.Leave a comment:

I just saw that our HP4284A's can measure ESR. Now I just need to find some leads to use.Leave a comment:

Thanks. I was suprised that ours read uF's. I know we do not have one that returns ESR.Leave a comment:

Does 22uF 50V sound correct for the small cap? They had so much of the white goop on it that the printing mostly came off trying to clean it.Leave a comment:

Re: Need help DCLCD 19" LCD Monitor - I already replaced caps
Sounds very much like caps that exhibit high ESR. As the lcd warms up, the cap's ESR drops enabling the lcd to turn on.
Also, please find the "." on your keyboard. It makes your posts more understandable.Leave a comment:

dclcd 19" monitor turn monitor on boot up window log comes on. then goes black if i turn the monitor off then
on the screen comes on for second or two then black
if i turn the monitor off and then on screen comes on for
a second or two
if after many on and off trys it will come on and stay on
it will continue as long as you use it even with screen saver. but if you let it sleep then we are back at turn off and on I did find the large cap 100md 400 volt to be bad

That's unusual, since the large cap very seldom fails. It's usually the small caps that fail. What you're describing is a very good example of a problem caused by bad caps. While the caps you measured capacitance wise may have checked ok, they could still have a high ESR, which could cause the problems you're seeing. There is one small cap mentioned on the previous posts of this thread that if failing, can cause startup problems.Leave a comment:

by momakaNormally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow.
But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

by black6hostGood day!
I have a Samson Resolv studio monitor that has no sound output. I've opened it up and found two caps that are bulging on what I believe to be the power supply section of the amplifier board. The board is marked Resolv 65A AMP V1.2. The caps in question are YUSCON, 2200uF, 35V, 85C temp and have markings of RA(P) and are 16mm x 25.5mm tall. I've attached the schematic and the caps in question are C5 and C6. I'm assuming they are low esr caps. I've tested both caps and they test low uF, nowhere near 2200uF.
I'm going to replace the caps and I'll be the first...-

by momakaI know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.
For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

by momakaHere's another LCD monitor repair: Westinghouse L2210NW.
Quick specs: 22” CCFL backlit LCD, 1680x1050 max resolution (16:10 aspect ratio)
I got it with a bunch of desktops PCs from a repair shop that was trying to free up space a few years ago. It seemed like a cheap monitor, so I didn't really care that much at first when I picked it up (and indeed it is, picture-wise.) But hey, free is free, so I can't complain. Moreover, it looked clean and the screen didn't have any significant scratches or blemishes.
Pictures of the monitor outside/case after a brief...-

by zlr8rHey guys, bit stumped with this laptop after replacing 2 blown components i.e., MP86493, MP2979A.
To begin with, this laptop was dead-dead.
Now with replaced (visibly) blown components, i do get some progress; after connecting battery or main cable;- am getting white power led
- 5-long-flashes on CAPS Lock and NUM lock
- then, fan full speed
- CPU heats up some (smaller die PCH, does not)
- always constant black screen no matter what's tried
- no USB recognition
- no HDMI output
I tried... - Loading...
