    LCD Inverter Design

I have recently started repairing LCD monitors and have noticed a common design flaw. If capacitors, especially those which are on this site's bad caps list, are heat sensitive, then why are manufacturers placing them directly above heatsinks? Both the Proview and Envision monitors I have worked on have the same flaw. I've noticed the same design on other images on this site.
Stupidity should be a crime, especially for drivers. I have NO patience for them.

      Built in obsolescence.

In short they don't care. If it blows out in a few years you'll get another one.

why would one assume all designers are smart people?

Agree. Plus the fact that technology improves every day. You'll already be wanting to upgrade by the time the one you have takes a dump. 5 years ago you couldn't do 1/20th the things you can today... on your phone!

"You want how much to fix my 3 year old monitor!?!"
              $75 plus parts
"I can buy a new one for $125!!"

...and it has been that way for near 40 years.

goes for most people doing anything anywhere, really.
once you open plenty of devices, you quickly figure out it wouldn't be THAT hard to make it last much longer than such a crappy design, or crappy choice of components...etc.

they should write "designed by humans" somewhere....
                LOL!

but yeah, would be a dull place if everything was perfect. what would we be tinkering with...

Can you imagine how the astronauts going to Mars will feel ... being blasted off into space on a rocket built by lowest bidder .... and the computers are designed to last only long enough to get there. So how do you get back to Earth? Just buy another computer!

Maybe we ought to take a look at Martian technology and see if they do it any better than we do here on Earth!!!

They go on about our carbon footprint, yet do little or nothing to the manufactuers that abuse us by expecting us to buy there replacment crap that is just going to last just past their guarantee

it was a riot to find out nasa will be making capsules once again(like in the beginning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion_(spacecraft) ) and that people like branson and virgin galactic will be flying people to orbit...

recently i saw documentary about zeppelin air ships..i think there's connection there somehwere...first time branson's "spaceship" falls it'll be the same fate as zeppelins...

yes, mars has perfect space technology, much better than ours that is such a gamble for humans; they don't fly at all!
(those few becteria that were left there from some comet...)
