Dell E2311H: backlight always stays on

    Hello,

I'm trying to repair a weird issue with a Dell E2311H; the screen itself works perfectly, on both the VGA and DVI inputs.
But when the screen goes in power-save mode (orange LED) or when I press the power button, the screen goes completely white with the backlight to the maximum.

I tried to replace two capacitors (100uF 16V) on the control board, more for the peace of mind.
The only time the backlight was off with the power cable plugged was when I unplugged the cable between the control board and the power board, but maybe it switched to some sort of fault mode?

    I attached two pictures:
    • the control board, the top connector is for the video, on the top left the power (the one I disconnected), on the bottom left the screen buttons
    • the power board, the power cable for the control board is on the right, the small green PCB connects to the backlight

I don't see anything strange on them and can't be sure which one is faulty.

it's probably a shorted transistor on the power board, i had a monitor that did that once.

Thanks for your answer; I found only two transistors: one in the middle with the heat sink and on the green PCB, both seem to be working (couldn't find a short).
But I checked every capacitor on this green PCB; C7 on the bottom-right measures only 100ohms, does it mean it's dead? I can't find anything on the INL859RN, the black IC that it's connected to.

well that's the led driver board,
what is the part number on that chip "u1" ?
if i can find a datasheet we can trace the pin that turns it on

Re: Dell E2311H: backlight always stays on

I wrote its reference on my previous message; it's a INL859RN, but I can't find anything on it.

I checked for burned transistors on the video control board, all seem ok.
There is something I thought about: even if I fix the backlight, what could tell me this control board will not continue to produce a white image, even if I won't be able to see it?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:
            C57: 3.30V
            C61:...

            Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...
