    HP L1906 LCD Monitor

Have an HP L1906 LCD that failed to power on after lightning storm. Opened up and found a number of bulging caps on power board. All were CapXcon. I ordered various size Panasonics and U-Chemcon to replace. Repair went beautifully and all is working well now. Guess lightning storm was just enough to put the caps over the edge. Sorry I didn't take pics, but caps looked pretty much like any bulging CapXcon gone bad. Hope this helps someone.

If it can be assembled, it can be disassembled.

It's been a while since I did this, but I can tell you what I remember.

      1) Bezel/trim ring just pops off the best I remember. You have to pry it starting in corners and working your way around ... and be gentle.
      2) The rest of the parts come apart using a small Philips screwdriver and a small star/torx driver if I remember right. You may have to remove a label/sticker to access a screw or two.
      3) Remove the base/stand using the clipping devices. Then remove the tilting mechanism by pulling the plastic cover off, then unscrewing the 3-4 screws anchored to the monitor chassis. This is important! Monitor will not come apart unless you do this step.
      4) NOTE: If the monitor back doesn't just come right, there is still a screw attached somewhere ... find it!
      5) Remove the backlight wires and and the front panel connections and draw their orientation/connection in your notebook or take a pic.
6)Remove the two boards. Again disconnect the wiring harnesses and document their connections.
      7) Document or take pics of everything as you go through process. Everything should come apart fairly easily if all screws have been removed.

That's about all I can remember. Last piece of advice is to test it out after the repair, BUT BEFORE you put it completely back together.
If it can be assembled, it can be disassembled.

Hello, and thanks for your response.

I have removed all the parts of the monitor to get back the electronic board.
If i look close some of the condensators, three of them seems to be in poor condition

They are at the center of the picture at the edge of the board.

Are they the same than in your case ?

        Thanks for your answer.

        Bye.

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

          Hi Everyone

Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.

The monitor is HP 27es LED Monitor

The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
          by Rick_1234
          Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Wise Wing F199 19'' LCD monitor - recapped
          by momaka
Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...
