    ENVISION EN9410e Capacitor help please

    Greetings,

While trouble shooting my monitor problems I ran across this thread
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6693

I have the same monitor/same problem and need a little help. I have it apart and confirmed the bad caps. I am ready to order the new parts and tackle the project ASAP but have just one problem. I need a little help making sure I order the correct capacitors. Can anyone help me by providing a P/N ?

I am no electronic genius when it comes to getting the right part without eyeballing it and comparing it in person so any help would be appreciated.

I can get some pictures posted as well.

BTW, this is a great site and am glad I found it. I am no expert but I love to take things apart and fix them. (or just take them apart to see how they work or modify them to make them better)

Going by the other thread they are the infamous 470uF 25v "CRAPS"

    http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...name=P10274-ND

If you are going to be working on other monitors, order 100 of them because almost every monitor needs a few of these.

Agree. I ordered a pack of 50 on December and I'm out of them by now.

Thank you so much! I will order extra just to have on hand. Looking at the posts here this seems to be a widespread problem? I have a Dell tv that has know issues as well and assume it is only a matter of time before it goes bad.
        Thanks again for the help!

It is indeed a wide problem. Crap caps are everywhere....

That is logical. As a matter of fact, you might want to be proactive on this. In some cases failure of the caps takes out additional components. Since you are seeing issues, ordering the caps and replacing them before they fail you may save yourself additional expense.

What causes the caps to fail and is it just this brand or others?
Will spend the weekend sharpening my soldering skills on old junk... it has been a while and my eyes are getting old.

After pulling some old junk out of storage to play with I can't help but notice how sloppy the work has become over the years. After comparing the solder work on an old 286 motherboard vs anything made within the last ten years I have no doubt the manufactures are directing us to be a "throw away" society. How sad...

              Thanks again!

                LOTS of brands are junk.

Lots of causes, most of which can be summed up as poor quality control and poor materials.

A biggie is that the Aluminum available on the Thai and Chinese markets has impurities that leach into the electrolyte and break it down. Some companies over there import their aluminum but most don't [and some that do, don't always].

Smaller companies will also outsource their electrolyte and as they don't have the greatest QA [or any at all] they don't even know how good or bad what they bought is.

The thing with LCD screens is [unlike mother boards and so forth] the customer never sees the caps before the purchase so the manufacturers are confident about using crap brands.
                - If the warranty is 1 year then you can be pretty sure the caps are junk.

Re: ENVISION EN9410e Capacitor help please

I fixed one last night. 3 bad caps works perfect now. Capxon bulged and 1 popped. it was the 25v 440uf's and the single 25v 330uf. Good luck!
