Identifying the problem with my Dell 2209WA

    Hi everyone,

I've been trying to identify the problem with my Dell 2209WA, which is pretty much identical to the problem described in this thread for a Dell U2711. I also have a visible "smear" on the same (right) side of the display, just like the one in these images and the video posted for the U2711.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9kAt_8mpe0

I doubt that it's an issue with the panel itself, as when I run the LCD conditioning utility of the monitor, that smear isn't there at all, however it affects both the VGA and the DVI input. And before you ask, running the LCD conditioning doesn't make it disappear.

I have a suspicion that it has something to do with the circuitry and if it's something relatively easy to fix like replacing a few caps, I want to have a go, as I really love this monitor. Any ideas?

Re: Identifying the problem with my Dell 2209WA

Tried to google your problem and there are a few threads on the Dell website that discuss this kind of issue. Turns out that is seems to be a defective panel - might still be under guarantee?

I'd call Dell and let them know what I think - you never know. Even if the monitor is 6-7-8 years old, they buy these panels from third parties and might have a solution to propose to you.

In any event, here is the service manual in case you didn't have it.

    Good luck.

But if that's indeed a defective panel, which may be the case, why isn't the same defect present on the LCD conditioning screen (which basically displays various solid colors repeatedly to resolve image retention)? Could you post the links to those threads on the Dell website? I'd like to have a look at them myself.

BTW, the monitor is about 7 years old and naturally out of warranty, but I doubt Dell would offer anything but a replacement with a crappier model even if it wasn't.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

          by ngethin
Guys could someone help please, I need a BIOS files but I can't figure out the BIOS chip on the motherboard to extract an image. I'll attach an image of the board, if someone that has some experience could point me in the right direction please. I already tried a WINBOND_25Q80DVNIG (1MB) to the right of the battery connector, and also a WINBOND_25Q16JWNIQ (2MB) at the bottom of the GPU but both the images are too small. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Dell 2209WA - power supply - Fusible Resistor replacement
          by jinu_j
          Hi

I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

          1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
          2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
          3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
          4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

          Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

          The power/battery...

          Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
          by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.
