rubycons baked dry in 8 years flat

not 1 of these rubycons are good.
    all very high esr.
its what happens when you cram a bunch of electronics in a box with no ventilation.
we see a ton of these.
caps are just a minor issue with these.everything else gets cooked too.
7-8 years of 24/7 and these units need a total rebuild.

YK series are basic general purpose caps. They should be using something high endurance and 105C.

But granted the caps weren't the only thing bad.

Our school's cnc machine has a acu-rite almost like that one. Has a 166mhz MIPS processor and 6 megs of ram, is that what that is? Probalby the same everything except the outside shell and the keypads in the front.

Actually, if i remember right, our school's has a LCD, not a CRT, and the processor is up against the back of the case, and the heatsink sticks out of the case and vents out into the open.

the heatsink on the rear is the power supply.
a few newer ones have lcd's
and no i dont mod the case for ventilation.
its a waste anyway as the operator cant be bothered to clean fan filters .

kc8adu; you could always have a fan inside that unit
Air blowing around is always better than air standing still
Some of our (IMO) better CNC machines just move the air around in the electrical cabinets, they don't let any new air in. And therefore they stay clean and nice inside!
(Well, the best ones have a watercooling radiator inside the eletrical cabinet but oh well, hope they never spring a leak lol!)

HP 440 G2 no power after short in flat lcd
                by dclass-pro
Hi all guys, I need your help. On a HP 440 G2 - LA-B181P laptop I was changing the speakers and the pc worked fine everything ok.
After closing it all with all the screws I realized that it would no longer turn on. I opened it and found that the flat cable of the LCD was shorted. I ordered a new flat but the motherboard still won't turn on, as soon as I connect the power supply the connector LED always flashes and the power button stays on.
I tried to check the voltages and the 3v and 5v are there, on the battery pin (with no battery connected) I have about 2v.
                I tried to...

Looking for some advice on a 820-02016 board as I don't have much experience with these M1 machines. Learning the nuances of them as I go.

So the history of this machine was it had been in a bag where a bottle of water leaked. Presented as dead about a month ago, corrosion was mainly around the battery connector and it's sub-PCB. Some corrosion was noted on the board around UC300, CC325, CW1C7, CW1C8. That was it really.

Now without battery connected, USB-C will stay at 5V and cycle between 0 and 120ma. PPBUS_AON is cycling between 0 to 12.3V. If battery is connected,...

                good morning

I've had this laptop sitting at home for many years with this defect, and now I have some free time and I'd like to fix it.

9 years ago I tried to sell it to a woman, she kept it at her house for a few days and then returned it to me broken (hinge). I bought the hinge and a new flat, thinking the problem was in the flat, and it wasn't...

The screen connector part is in the photo below, I measured the voltages with a simple multimeter and the measurements were as follows:

                1: 1,3V
                2: 1,2V
                4: 1,3V
                5: 1,3V...

Seasonic B12 BC-550 – barely 2 years old and with BAD CAPS already!
                by momaka
I know I've been a little scarce lately (like the last 2-3 years), but I'm still here and still doing my thing with fixing PSUs.

For today's considerations, I have a Seasonic B12 BC-550 [A551bcafh] 550 Watt ATX power supply for you (click on links for full size images).

It's a modern ATX unit with fixed (non-modular) cables and an 80-plus bronze certificate. Here's the label:

                Samsung Syncmaster 740BF repair
                by soopacrucial
                Hi folks,

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:

Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank. I seem to remember the blue power led would also go off when this happened but that I'm not 100% sure of. By pressing the power button I do remember I could at first get it working again but eventually the problem would come back. At the time I had read about...
