HP 2207w Slow to start from Cold, quicker when warm

    Hi All,

I've a HP 2207w which has recently started taking longer to start from cold, but normal when warm which leads to me suspect caps are failing on the inverter board. Would this be a correct initial assumption before I crack it open or are there other chief suspects ?

One thing I've just noted but never noticed before even though I've owned this from new is that under the menu system info it only seems to be showing recent lamp hours and not total lamp hours from new, is it normal behaviour and could this point to something else ?

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

your invertor wont effect starting, only backlights.
it sounds like caps, but more likely in the psu - probably small ones.

Hi and thanks for the reply, I've decided to order a new Dell 24 inch for now and save this for a wet Saturday afternoon project. Might be back in a couple of weeks if I get stuck.

Just for further info it's looks like it's taking 3-4 attempts to ignite the lamps when cold rather than the usual one. Power switch goes from amber to blue straight away but then toggles from blue to off about 4 times over 30 seconds then lamps illuminates, I'm assuming each of those cycles is an illumination attempt, is this a correct assumption ?

Could anyone recommend a good reputable (and cheap) UK based CCFL supplier as I might as well change them all anyway as they are getting elderly and it's going to be on the bench if the price is right.

no cheap parts sources other than china.

you may want to consider an led kit instead of new tubes.

Was thinking LED kit but I've no experience of them, any recommendations and pitfalls ?

not really, the pitfalls are exactly the same as replacing the ccfl's - you need to be very carefull with the panel not to break it or get dust in it.

other than that, your just replacing the invertor with a high current one instead of a high voltage one.

Acer Helios 500 (PH517-51) - unexpected reboots when laptop is warm (cold solder joint issue?)
              by Mirenia
              Hi everyone,

got an Acer Helios 500 Laptop (PH517-51) for diagnosing with a strange issue:

The laptop runs for a while (1-2 hours, sometimes less) and then suddenly shuts completely off, like someone pulled the power cord and restarts immediately after on its own.
If this happened once, then the laptop only runs for a few minutes until restart.
This happens regardless while staying in windows or uefi or in a linux environment.

At first I thought of a normal overheating issue, but as I monitored temps with HWInfo64, nothing seems very hot.

MacBook Pro A1708 - CPU extremely slow, locked @ 0.39ghz; fan full speed
              by gjlpereira
              Hi forum.

I'm working on a macbook pro, model a1708, that is running extremely slow.

Everything on it seams to work just fine, it just works extremely slow; painfully slow; especially running macos (windows and linux actually run OKish on it, slow, but usable).
One other symptom of the problem with the machine is that the fan is always running at full speed.

This machine has been worked on by someone else previously; they tried to repair it, but with no success. The motherboard does have sings of being worked on, but it all looks good/OK; like...

PS3 Turns Off When Cold but Not When Warm
              by CdDvdFlash
I have a Playstation 3 fat CECHK02 that will turn off at the start when playing a game or in the XMB but if I let it warm up at the XMB it plays games just fine I thought it could be a hard drive problem so I put a new 500GB SSD in but it is the same so I tried another power supply unit but still the same. I have changed the thermal paste twice now because I have also changed the fan but its still the same, it sounds like a capacitor problem to me but someone on
PSX-Place said it could be the thermal paste under the IHS on both the CPU and GPU I dont want to try to get the IHS off just...

Hello I have an old Motherboard

              Type: Acorp 6VIA81P Ver. 1.6

It is works...and slowly died... freezing 1-2 times...and after that not windows starting...now totally not booting
PCI post card 7 segment --,-- (1 times appear 06,05 but never more)
Leds: IRDY, Frame, Reset not flash

So looks like it is hardware fault..
I checked some voltage, but looks like good at FETs
Capacitors ok, not damaged (but not checked the values)

SD ram 256MB tested in other board ok
              Pentium2 400 slot1 tested ok

              HP Notebook 15-dy1731ms VERY SLOW
              by nissimezra
              Hi to everyone.

I never seen something like this. I have HP Notebook 15-dy1731ms motherboard: DA0P5DMB8CO REV C that is very very slow. I tried all the basic, updating the bios, replacing ssd, replacing ram, soldering all coils, reflow CPU power supply but the laptop is still very very slow. Never seen a motherboard that is slow. CPU power suppliers 1.8 volts, the cpu barely getting hot.

What left for me to do is reflow the CPU and try manually programing the bios chip with programer.

Anyone have any idea what it can be?
